Boater says he was robbed on Lake Erie Monday
By Donna J. Miller, Plain Dealer reporter
October 27, 2009, 12:02PM

Plain Dealer fileLake Erie boaters head for a dock. CLEVELAND, Ohio — The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating a report of an armed robbery of a boater near the Euclid-Cleveland border.

A man reported that he was alone in his recreational boat Monday evening when another boat carrying two people approached. The duo pulled out a gun and robbed the man.

Euclid police Capt. Dave Brooks said the victim's keys, wallet and ID were taken. The incident occurred about two miles offshore from East 185th Street.

Petty Officer George Degener, a Guard spokesman, said there have been no other reports of robberies on the lake.

5. creativity
Some loon at the New York Times wrote about how the elderly are relatively untouched by the current economic crisis (maybe it was that financial writer of theirs who went bankrupt, I don't remember.)

Completely ignoring that some of our savings were in mutual funds which tanked, and CD interest has fallen by half, plus med prices have increased astronomically when we're in the donut hole.

One of his happy thoughts was that seniors could always go out and get a job if necessary. No word yet on where these jobs are supposed to be, or why companies that think 50 year olds are too old to be useful are suddenly going to hire 70 year olds.

He seems, however, to have missed this rather creative solution.
