Memorial service held for census worker
Source: Lexington Herald Leader

LONDON, Ky. -- The son of a census worker whose body was found hanging from a tree in southeastern Kentucky was among a small gathering of friends and loved ones who attended a memorial service for Bill Sparkman.

The service was held Monday evening at the First United Methodist Church in London.

The Rev. Wade Arp, pastor of the church, told mourners that Sparkman had been a man who had a positive impact on the community and had enriched the lives of those he met.

Sparkman's son, Josh, was among those in the church.

Bill Sparkman's body was found in the Daniel Boone National Forest Sept. 12 with a rope around his neck and the word "fed" scrawled across his chest. Stymied investigators said Monday they still are trying to determine if his death was a homicide.

2. "trying to determine if his death was a homicide"???? WTF?
Who writes "fed" on themselves and then kills themselves, with no indication he was suicidal and no note. They need to search for a killer, offer a damned reward. This is not a suicide and it sure as hell ain't an accident!

12. Well...
...it's possible he was involved with someone that likes it a little rough. You know, she writes "fed" on his chest in jelly as part of the warm-up routine, then he tightenes the noose a little as things heat up...

Then there's an "oopsie", she flees in panic, a bird or two lands on his chest to eat the jelly, pecking out the word "fed" and making it look like scratches...

See, just harmless innocent fun gone bad!

6. reminds me of 'In The Heat of the Night' - the insiders need some outsiders to come in

I'm sure there are some good folks there working on it, but all it takes is a few bad ones to tear it apart

7. FBI Probes Murder of U.S. Census Worker in Kentucky

By Devlin Barrett and Jeffrey McMurray, Associated Press

Manchester, Ky. (AP) - When Bill Sparkman told retired trooper Gilbert Acciardo that he was going door-to-door collecting census data in rural Kentucky, the former cop drawing on years of experience warned: "Be careful."

The 51-year-old Sparkman was found hanged from a tree near a Kentucky cemetery and had the word "fed" scrawled on his chest, a law enforcement official said Wednesday, and the FBI is investigating whether he was a victim of anti-government sentiment.

"Even though he was with the Census Bureau, sometimes people can view someone with any government agency as 'the government.' I just was afraid that he might meet the wrong character along the way up there," said Acciardo, who directs an after-school program at an elementary school where Sparkman was a frequent substitute teacher.

The Census Bureau has suspended door-to-door interviews in rural Clay County, where the body was found, until the investigation is complete, an official said.

9. Amazing that the MSM has hardly covered this story.
It hit's too close to home after all the anti government sentiment they have drummed up since Obama became president. The U.S. press should be ashamed. They would rather cover Acorn and Faux propaganda than provide some justice for a true American patriot like Bill Sparkman. Fucking wake up America! Wake Up!

15. Hey, you're jumping to an unfair conclusion. I agree it shouldn't be
a question that he was murdered. But, that doesn't mean the police did it. We don't know who did it.
