Poll: Corzine opens up 9 point lead in NJ (Gov) race

Source: CNN

(CNN) – With eight days left until voters go to the polls, a new survey suggests that New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine has opened up a 9 point lead over his Republican challenger, former U.S. Attorney Chris Christie.

Most polls in New Jersey over the past month have indicated that the race between Corzine and Christie was tied or within the margin of error, with Independent candidate Chris Daggett polling in the low double digits.

But according to a Suffolk University poll released Monday, 42 percent of likely Garden State voters back Corzine, while 33 percent support Christie and 7 percent back Daggett. Fourteen percent of those questioned said they are undecided.

...snip...

The poll also suggests that regardless of how whom they support, nearly six in ten voters believe Corzine will win - double the amount of people who think Christie will come out on top.

Will someone have an opportunity to ask Christie if, as Governor, he'll "opt-out" of the Public Option in the Health Care bill; or is he meeting only with his base voters?

12. As a native New Yorker.....
New Jersey has always been laughable when its comes to corruption and that is saying something! Corzine is just another Bilderberger. No other good options though.

28. As a Native and present NJ resident...
I can say with great, almost smug assurance that Corzine is a good man who inherited a goddamned mess, one left by both Whitman and , yes, that world-class moron, McGreevey.

Admittedly, the post-accident Corzine has not been all that thrilling. Some, in the know, say he has had some strange metaphysical change in his worldview.

Christie is as crooked as they come and a political failure who could not last more than one term as a Republican freeholder in Morris County. Now, THAT'S an idiot. A bad ham sandwich usually lasts two terms as a freeholder in that bastion of terminally-privileged wastreldom.

Daggett? Who?

What we need to do is clean up the political machines and cronyism that exists in the Lege and the senate. Corzine signed the bill that strikes the first blow on that, the one that is giving county political machines hysterical diarrhea. Gotta start somewhere.

Now, do regale us on the pristine political climate in Tejas. We await in rapt and breathless fascination.

The previous poster seems to be of the same asinine opinion as many Naderites were in 2000. Christie, Corzine, whatever. Christie is the worst of the worst.

Daggett is Paul-like weird. Corzine isn't our best Dem, but he's the clear choice here.

31. I wasn't that worried
Corzine pulled an Obama on him--let Christie shoot his wad both politically and financially. New Jersey is the unpretension capital of the world, and I've always had every confidence that that Corzine would be seen as the lesser of two evils.
