Shoes fly as George W. Bush speaks in Montreal
Edited on Fri Oct-23-09 09:41 AM by Botany
Source: The Vancouver Sun

MONTREAL — About 300 protesters outside a downtown hotel blew plastic horns, tossed shoes and burned George W. Bush in effigy Thursday as the former U.S. president spoke to a luncheon of the Montreal Board of Trade.

Facing the crowd were dozens of Montreal police tactical squad members and while there was plenty of noise, there were only five arrests and no injuries.

Inside the regal Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Hotel, a relaxed-appearing Bush spoke with very few regrets about some of the most controversial moves of his presidency.

"I am confident that I made decisions based on principle, that I made calls as best I could, and I did not sell my soul," Bush told an audience of about 1,000 men and women at the $400-a-seat steak luncheon.

1. "I did not sell my soul."
How could he sell what he didn't have?

This two-bit faker will NEVER be rehabilitated in the public mind, and that's probably the only upside to Saint Ronnie.

44. It just means that going in....
He knows that everyone believes he "sold his soul" to the Devil, or at least Dick Cheney. When you have to start from the point of "I am not a crook", you know your ass is in trouble.

I hope the demons in his head just continue to eat his mind. He knows he's a hated and neutered man.

Surprised he allowed his arrogant self to even consider he sold his country out.

66. Honestly, I feel sad for him. By the time he finds and defines his soul,...
,...he will have nothing but aweful regret upon which to reflect on his life, with no time left to FIX his mistakes.

His Dad has shown such regret almost every public appearance I've ever seen him attend. At least, they believe in God and finally figure their failures as men,...long after they imagined themselves blessed by God.

I wonder if the protesters out-numbered the attendees. I really do wonder.

81. Bush is a psychopath.........
he will never reflect upon his life or regret anything he has done. As far as "fixing his mistakes", in Bush's mind he has never made a mistake he needs to fix. He truly is a psychopath, bereft of any remorse or responsibility for his actions. I blame his parents for this. They indulged the little twit so much he always thought he was someone special, someone above the rules and laws of normal people. He's "special" alright: special as in "short bus" special. :grr:

27. It is somewhat common knowledge that...

... right wing benefactors buy up truckloads of their favored right wing psychophant's books, and send them straight to the warehouses, whereupon they ultimately end up at Sam's Club, Costco, Walmart, etc.... for less than 1/3 the cover price. Why do they do it? The NY Times bestseller list is in part determined by how many books are ordered right from the publisher,

Personally, when at Sam's Club or Costco, I rearrange the right wing author's books and bury them under anything by Hillary or the left. The right wing shoppers will never find those Ann Coulter or Rush Limbaugh books.

82. The New York Times Bestseller list is a freaking joke..........
when the list goes 1,000 or so books deep, ANY book is destined to become a "New York Times Bestseller". Just about any book released is on the list. Anyone who gets caught in the trap of buying a book simply because it says "New York Times Bestseller" on it is in for a rude awakening. I've read some of the most god awful drivel in my life that was billed as a "New York Times Bestseller". It's the same as a new book being hyped as "written by the New York Times Bestselling Author". That stupid list means absolutely nothing anymore. :puke:

14. As a Canadian, I am embarrassed for my country
This is the third time this war criminal has been allowed into our country by our (neo) Conservative government (elected by 37 per cent of the population). Clearly, Bush is using these events to make money, and to create the illusion that he is free to travel the world to speak to people.

Well, he isn't free to travel the world, since he would be greeted in most places with subpoenas charging with him being a war criminal. The same goes for Cheney, Rice and the rest of his criminal gang.

Previously he has confined his Canadian trips to Alberta (home of the Canadian Republican Party) and to Toronto, where he hid behind Bill Clinton (and shame on Clinton for providing Bush with a PR shield). Now he has taken his act to Montreal, where right wing Quebeckers (yes, we have those) flocked to hear him.

I am embarrassed that my government, which stopped British MP George Galloway as an undesirable at the border for trying to get humanitarian aid to Gazans, allows this war criminal into our country, where I, as a taxpayer, have to pick up the tab for this criminal's security.

Thanks you for reading my rant. Out.

- B

back in december of 2008- there WAS snow on the ground in montreal.

and apparently this past thursday wasn't the first or only time that the montrealoids threw shoes in protest.

49. I loathe this worthless piece of shit.
Why am I posting? Just to get eight years of misery out of my system, I guess. Thanks to this dick, I'm unemployed with nothing on the horizon. He's collecting six figures for opening his piehole and I can't find a job. He is disgusting. He's ruined our reputation worldwide, and I think I'm qualified to speak after 30 years in the international travel trade.

I so wish he would disappear to Paraguay, or wherever he's squandered his ill-gotten gains.

He was a bastard back in Midland, TX 28 years ago (yes, I was there) and he's a bastard now. End of story.

(Did I mention I'm pissed?)

85. Bush denies selling his soul??????
Sounds more like self-denial!!!!!!!

What chimpy forgot to mention was that the "principle" upon which he based his decions was the enrichment of his cronies and taking dictation from his brain (Karl Rove) and his boss (Dick Cheney).
