LANSING, Mich. (AP) — The father of JonBenet Ramsey is thinking about running for the Michigan House.
John Ramsey is considering running as a Republican for the 105th House District, Matt Resch, spokesman for Republican House Speaker Rick Johnson of LeRoy, said Monday. The 105th District covers all of Otsego, Antrim, and Charlevoix counties and most of Cheboygan County in northern Michigan.
Ramsey is registered to vote in Charlevoix, where his family has owned a vacation home. He did not immediately return a telephone message seeking comment Monday afternoon left at a directory business his wife, Patsy, co-owns.
"He wasn't recruited or anything like that," Resch said about Ramsey. "His name was given to us as a person running for that open seat."

JonBenet's strangled and beaten body was found in the basement of the family's Boulder, Colo., home on December 26, 1996. Authorities say she also may have been sexually assaulted. No charges have been filed in JonBenet's death.
