Grayson: The GOP is a "lie factory"
Source: The Hill

The now-infamous Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) unleashed another verbal tirade against Republicans on Thursday, calling the party a "lie factory" that hoped only to stall the healthcare debate.

Grayson also dismissed calls that he apologize for his remark earlier this week that Republicans' healthcare plan was to "die quickly" -- an allegation that has since invoked the ire of the entire GOP.

"America is sick of you, Republican Party; you're a lie factory, that's all you do," he told MSNBC on Thursday. "Why don't you work together with the Democrats to solve America's problems instead of making stuff up?"

Grayson then called the party a bunch of "no-mongers," and he chided GOP lawmakers for failing to come up with their own healthcare plan in the 48 hours since he first attacked their strategy.

1. Dude I LOVE this guy!
Gives me a whole new appreciation for Orlando!

Its like the spine of a Berserker, but with the mind of a Democrat!

Reminds me a lot of my previous Rep. Fortney "Pete" Stark -- who is a mensch among mensch!

64. is there a way that Graysonitis can spread to other dems?
Scientists in a hurriedly call press conference announced that they have found a new 'attitude' called graysonitis. Prof. McClaren said that Graysonitis wasn't as much a disease as it was a characterstics found very rarely in the political class. He said that evidence points to politicians growing a spine and standing up to their beliefs - a trend so uncommon that it was believed to have become extinct in the global political class. McClaren's colleage, Dr. Smith agreed and added that Graysonitis is much better than the recently seen Palinitis, McCainitis, Bushitis, Rovitis, Beckitis or the deadly disease Limbaughitis.

Both professors hoped that Graysonitis would spread amongst Democrats as Grayson remains in Congress and close to other democratic congressmen.

I hope that many others contribute also, even if it is a dollar or two. Wouldn't it be fabulous if other Democrats started telling it like it actually is instead of being victimized by the lies, hate and fear promulgated by the contemporary Tories.

6. Adlai Stevenson once said: "If the Republicans will stop telling lies about the Democrats,
Edited on Thu Oct-01-09 07:12 PM by Zorra
we will stop telling the truth about them."

Rep. Grayson is telling the truth, he's 100% correct. The whole republican agenda is to lie, because they represent nothing that is genuine or decent. Their whole party is a sham, completely grounded in hate, greed, corruption, and deception.

Apparently, the republican party hasn't changed much since Stevenson spoke his famous quote.

When he was running for President, during a campaign stop a woman yelled: "Mr. Stevenson, every thinking person is voting for you!"

Stevenson replied: "Thank you, ma'am, but unfortunately we need a majority."

133. We had a similar candidate for the Premiership in the UK, called F E Smith,
later Lord Birkenhead.

As a young barrister, he was holding forth at great length (and doubtless with a cetain flamboyance), when the judge interrupted him:

"Mr Smith, why do you think I am sitting here?"

"My Lord", Smith replied, "it is not for me to seek to fathom the inscrutable workings of divine providence."

That's two salvos - if he does it every other day he'll be marginalized by the media as an hysterical, irrational 'typical liberal' who is great for entertainment but is not to be taken seriously. They did that to Howard Dean based on two seconds of the primary in 04. They did it to Cindy Sheehan. They did it to John Murtha. They did it to Al Gore.

Now's the time to sit back and wait for the GOP to flail about for a response.

Bashing the dumbshitz of the GOP is a growth market and will pay handsome dividends for electing all who oppose the GOP.

When Palin started that "death panel" bullshit, I would have pointed out IMMEDIATELY that we already have death panels, the health insurance companies.

I can't figure out if no one is clever enough to think of this stuff, or more likely, they just don't have the guts to say it.

145. I support Grayson as Fla. Senator
or even as a governor. We need more of him on the state level at the moment, Central Florida isn't bastion of conservatism as it was during the Raygun years.

Later, we should let him build on his success for the presidential ticket.

50. REP. GRAYSON -- YOU ARE OUR HERO!
Rep. Alan Grayson -- you are our HERO!

You said exactly what Democrats needed to say and you delivered the message LOUD and CLEAR.

The Republican Party IS a LIE FACTORY!

This is what we've been yearning for....someone who will speak the truth and not be afraid of the big, bad bully Republicans.

To all those Democratic politicians who have been cowering in silence or waffling and waiting to see which way the wind blows -- take a lesson and follow suit.

Be a warrior, not a wimp.

Thank you, Rep. Grayson, for standing up for America.

GOD BLESS YOU!

53. He needs a "straight man"
All he says is true and everyone knows it. But this is the political world and if he doesn't want to just get "written off" in the way Waters and Kucinich are at times, I think he needs a straight man. Some other Dem.... established and high profile, that maybe clicks their tongue a little and then AGREES COMPLETELY WITH EVERYTHING HE SAYS. Y'know, a sorta "crazy but truthful relative...we love him but what a character!" act.

Don't get me wrong. The guys is a breath of fresh air here on the liberal side of the planet. He has yet to tell a lie, that I can see even if he's "playing the Repug game" as far as rhetoric goes. More power to him! It's just because he's a new Congressman, it'd be VERY advantageous for the entire party for an older established Dem to support him in a more conventional way.... without backing down to the now annoying to everyone Republican whining. I think of my scenario as a way for the whole Dem party taking advantage of his courage without looking schizoid.

...by which I mean LIE.

It seems that every time I hear a liberal chiding the Republicultists, the worst they ever accuse them of is "distorting the truth" or "playing with the facts" or "putting their slant on things".

I almost never hear them come out and actually call them LIARS, which is what the vast majority of them are.

100. Speaking Pure Truth!
This guy could well go down as a real American hero, God he is so refreshing. People talk about speaking truth to power, this guy is speaking truth to pure evil, as in how that psychiatrist said about Michael Myers.

The wing nuts are totally befuddled, a democrat who doesn't feel the need to play nice with these creeps. I'll say this though, I'm starring to be just about as irritated with so called moderates, blue dogs or whatever. My view on them is that they are about screwing us too, just not quite as much.

The Hannitys of the world are just so hypocritical, it's mind blowing. Tea bagger protesters with weapons are cheered as heroes, they call war or health care peaceful protesters hooligans.

And I continue to me amazed at how many still speak out and vote against their own best interests and the best interests of their children and grand children.

You can't expect cooperation from The American TAliban, so stop trying to mollie-coddle them. They think politics is war, so let's bring it to them. LEt's have at it. The counterproductive party of cheaters is finally being called by their correct title. Liars and cheats. Unfortunately they own the country's media.

155. The biggest liars ever=Republicans
The most prolific smear mongerers and liars ever were associated with that party.

George W. Bush and Dick Cheney lied to sell their cause for the Iraq War. Bush also lied to the many gullible Americans who helped him win 2004! Who were Bush and Cheney? REPUBLICANS!

Andy Martin, the man who spread the rumors about Barack Obama being a Muslim (and he also advocates Birther theories I think) has run unsuccessfully in several federal and state offices as a Republican since 1990. Martin is an ex-Democrat.

Guess who dishonestly hollered "YOU LIE!" to President Obama in the September 9 joint session address? Joe Wilson - Republican of South Carolina!

I could go on and on and on with other names, like Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, Tom DeLay, Dennis Hastert, Scooter Libby, Bill O'Reilly, Michael Savage, Virginia Foxx, the list just continues!
