McClellan won't answer senators' questions on Canada drug imports, for now
http://www.9news.com/storyfull.aspx?storyid=25252

WASHINGTON (AP) - Mark McClellan, President Bush's choice to run Medicare, said Monday he won't answer senators' questions about his opposition to importing prescription drugs from Canada before he takes over the government health program.

Republican leaders in the Senate want to vote to confirm McClellan by the end of the week, as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services tries to put in place the Medicare overhaul that Bush signed last year.

However, McClellan's rejection of the request from Republican John McCain of Arizona and Democrats Byron Dorgan of North Dakota and Debbie Stabenow of Michigan sets up the prospect that they will use Senate procedures to drag out the confirmation.

McClellan, at a hearing on his nomination at the Senate Finance Committee, said he would answer the senators' questions "as soon as this confirmation process is concluded."

7. Drag it out. Its pretty obvious that he won't answer the question because
his answer is politically unpopular. So drag it out and force Republicans to admit their real position on the subject.

8. Just part of the trend to get around accountability
and enforce pure power-Bushco is all about power moves-substantive issues don't get discussed or debated-they get answered by "strong leadership".

10. I get the feeling
that McCain is the only one with guts enough to stand up for principles to which his party is SUPPOSED to espouse.

11. kick, seems he's tired of false advertising, bait 'n switch, and general
slimy operations. I may not agree with all his stands, for sure, but at least he stands for them, instead of running out Karen's latest "gem". Heard Busboy made a statement today, it was reported by the White House while the "cowboy" was in Houston....may be SOP but it sure sounds like POS to me.

http://www.iht.com/articles/110066.htm

Snip:
"And their father, Barr McClellan, 63,
Strayhorn's first husband, is the author
of a forthcoming book asserting that
Lyndon B. Johnson engineered the
murder of John F. Kennedy."

Snotty Scotty and his brother Medi-scare Mark

14. the history channel
documentary that made those assertions a few months back indicated that Johnson knew only because of his mob connections and that he went along because his shady dealings and connections were about to be investigated and brought to light. The documentary suggested that Kennedy's arm was twisted to select Johnson as VP in the first place, and then he had to go because he wasn't playing ball like he was supposed to. That is about the time that the pubbies started to have influence in the south. Is it a coincidence that Johnson chose not to run for office for a second term? If it is true Johnson was aware, it would actually make a lot of sense - the mafia used to be heavy into the democratic party union influence etc., but I think they have now gone white collar and mostly jumped to influencing the other side of the aisle. I would not put it past them to use past inside mob knowledge to try to slam the dems by association now.
