Kenya army mutiny fear

The Kenyan army has generally kept a low-profile

A Kenyan soldier has been arrested, questioned and released over allegations of a possible mutiny over pay, the Department of Defence (DoD) says.

DoD spokesman Bogita Ongeri told BBC News Online that the soldier was arrested as part of investigations into leaflets complaining that recent pay rises for the lower ranks were inadequate.

"These reports are highly exaggerated and they certainly do not worry us because the leaflets were found in only one barrack," said Mr Ongeri.

He, however, said that investigations into the matter are continuing.
