PROMISES, PROMISES: Obama wins praise for Katrina
Source: Huffington Post

WASHINGTON — As a presidential candidate, Barack Obama pledged to right the wrongs he said bogged down efforts to rebuild the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina. Seven months into the job, he's earning high praise from some unlikely places.

Gov. Bobby Jindal, R-La., says Obama's team has brought a more practical and flexible approach. Many local officials offer similar reviews. Even Doug O'Dell, former President George W. Bush's recovery coordinator, says the Obama administration's "new vision" appears to be turning things around.

Not too long ago, Jindal said in a telephone interview, Louisiana governors didn't have "very many positive things" to say about the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

But Jindal said he had a lot of respect for the current FEMA chief, Craig Fugate, and his team. "There is a sense of momentum and a desire to get things done," the governor said.

Added O'Dell: "I think the results are self-evident."

Many positive things are happening under the radar. A lot of progress throughout the country may not be apparent now, but will be felt in the years to come.

And no, an air force carrier with banners won't be needed to announce the results.

3. Government can't work -- if conservative idiots in charge don't want it to.
It sure can if competent people are put in charge who want it to do what it should.

4. I was wondering about this very thing this morning.
And was appalled when I turned the tv on CNN only to see, 'Was Hurricane Katrina a Blessing in Disguise?'. Jesus.

5. I sat next to a FEMA guy on a flight to Florida a couple months ago
He was thrilled with the appointment of Fugate, and excited that Obama was restoring professionalism to the agency. He said there wasn't anybody who was better for the job.

...that when Republicans are in charge
everything falls apart,

12. Bobby Jindal talks out of both sides of his mouth
<snip>
Overall, Jindal gives the Obama administration an "incomplete" because there is so much still to do. A glaring example is the shuttered, 20-story Charity Hospital, which served New Orleans' poor and uninsured. The state claims it is owed nearly $500 million to replace it.
<snip>

President Obama's administration has done more in 8 months than * did in 5 years yet Jindal is not satisfied.....:rant:

To my knowledge, the Air Force doesn't use aircraft carriers... but the Navy does use planes. ;P
