Palin no show at fundraiser, denies accepting invitation
Source: Anchorage Daily News

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Promoters of an Anchorage event set for tonight have been billing Sarah Palin as a star speaker, but a Palin spokeswoman says the former governor is out of state and won’t be there.

In response to Anchorage Daily News queries, Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton said Wednesday that "this is the first we have ever heard of a speech." Stapleton declined to discuss where Palin is.

Informed of Stapleton’s comment, Alaska Family Council President Jim Minnery said organizers have been talking to Palin "contacts" for weeks about the speech. His group has been advertising the event, which promotes an Alaska ballot proposal aimed at making it illegal for teens to get an abortion without telling their parents.

Minnery says it will be disappointing if Palin doesn’t show up but adds, "the show will still go on." He declined to say which Palin contacts his organizers had been in touch with.

Stapleton says the former governor was indeed invited to a Thursday night private fundraiser in support of the ballot measure but won’t be able to return to Alaska in time. Stapleton says Palin notified the group she would be out of town.

7. This is becoming standard procedure with her and these appearances.
This is like the 3rd time I've heard about a discrepancy reagrding her attendance at an event like this.

I don't understand all the drama - either you accept or you don't. Why she can't handle simple invites is baffling to me.

11. She's the Sly Stone of politics!
Seriously, she's looking more and more like my original impression of hypomania was correct.

In addition, she's either got a totally incompetent staff or she's consistently cutting them off at the knees by acting on whim rather than prearranged schedule.

13. Does this signal a change in policy?
Does Caribou Barbie now wish that Bristol and Levi had just gone ahead and got their abortion without getting her all involved in their decision?

14. No Show Palin.
Really, you can't blame her for not showing. The woman is obviously pro choice - choosing to quit, choosing to not attend 'scheduled' functions...

17. This is so unlike her ...... no really I am serious ..... honestly.
When you think of "stick to it-ness" Sarah so the girl.

I mean as mayor of Wasilla she brought in a city manager .... she quit or dropped out or flunked out of ??? # of colleges ....
she quit the oil and gas commission of Alaska ..... she quit as governor ... she would not follow the jobs that the McCain
campaign asked her to do ..... So all I can say is:

25. Keep up the 'good' work, Sarah!
And be sure to keep speaking out for the national GOP, too.

Progressives really need you to do that.
