US and Afghan forces attacked a clinic in eastern Afghanistan where a Taliban leader was being treated for injuries he sustained last week, Nato has said.

They were fired upon when they neared the clinic in the Sar Hawza district of Paktika province, and responded by ordering helicopter strikes.

The troops first made sure there were no civilians inside, Nato added.

Nato said one soldier was killed and seven gunmen were arrested, but local officials said 12 militants had died.

1. Oh yes, I'm sure we made absolutely sure there were no civilians there.
American soldiers aren't trained to worry about collateral damage once they're fired upon. They just "light it up"

2. And before someone calls me a Taliban lover, hmm that phrase seems familiar, let me be clear.
I agree at the point of being attacked our troops should absoulutely protect themselves at all costs. Just please, world press, stop helping us propagandize this war.

3. Twelve 'freedom fighters' killed and their leader captured....due to a tip off ?
They were ratted out by a spy ?
Why would Afghan and NATO troops even suspect Taliban would be holed up in a clinic.

Wounded Taliban commander captured in Afghan clinic

KABUL (Reuters) - Twelve insurgents were killed when foreign and Afghan forces stormed a clinic and captured a Taliban commander being treated for injuries received in an earlier firefight, officials said on Thursday. A statement released by the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said the Taliban commander, known as Mullah Muslim, was being treated at a clinic in Sar Hawza, Paktika province, after being injured in a firefight on August 20, when Afghanistan went to the polls to elect a new president
ISAF said Afghan forces were fired on as they approached the clinic and one of its service members was killed

No blood money, no peace.

The foreign NGO doctors and health care workers better pack it in and go home when the rumors of revenge killings start to swirl down at the 4077th
