Perry's job rating declines to 40%, according to poll

AUSTIN -- Controversial budget cuts and the bitter congressional redistricting battle apparently have turned Rick Perry into the most unpopular Texas governor in 14 years, according to a poll released Friday.

Half the 1,000 Texans surveyed in the latest Scripps Howard Texas Poll said they disapprove of the job Perry is doing as governor. Just 40 percent gave Perry positive marks.

That marks the greatest level of dissatisfaction with a Texas governor since Republican Gov. Bill Clements' last year in office in 1990, when 59 percent of the Texans surveyed said he was doing a poor job.

In Perry's case, the slide seems to have been caused mostly by bitterness over three special sessions on congressional redistricting last year.

President George W. Bush and Governor Rick Perry visit the summer reading program at the George Sanchez Charter School in Houston. President Bush and Governor Perry are reading, "America: A Patriotic Primer" by Lynne Cheney, with the children.

1. Love the picture
The three faces of the boys trying to read the book say it all. There's Ricky and Georgie, brows furrowed, trying to comprehend a 6-th grade level account of AMERICA, and the child in the middle, who looks completely relaxed, and ready to explain the big words to them.

Finally people are waking up to realize what a disaster these empty-headed Republican beta-males really are. They seem harmless, though annoying, but are truly havoc-wreakers of the first order!

6. 6th-grade level?
I don't think so. This is an early reader.

"A is for America, the land that we love."
"B is for the birthday of this nation of ours."

5. Bush was on his best behavior and not making any waves so he could

be king of the world in 2000.

But most of what he touched during his governorship, which were self-proclaimed successes, were in fact failures built on lies....his MO.

4. That picture of Perry/Bush in the classroom is SO staged. Check out
the pink/blue color coordination of their ties with the background.

Hadn't heard these figures before. I guess there is hope for Texas afterall. And if Tx. is Bush country, you can just imagine how unpopular the repugs are elsewhere, because I'm sure the discontent doesn't stop with Perry.

7. hm, by the standards set by Powell and Cheney --
it's time to back a violent coup against him.

"Sorry, Perry, you can either leave Texas in a bodybag or in this helicopter we've generously provided for you"

9. Will this have any effect on the gerrymandered House races?
Or is Republicanism the best thing ever, even though it feeds off of our still-living bodies like the undead?
