Toomey, Sestak to face off at town hall-style meeting
Source: Allentown Morning Call

"In an unusual bit of gamesmanship, U.S. Senate hopefuls Pat Toomey and U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak agreed Friday to face one another at a town hall-style meeting in Allentown, PA next month to discuss the proposed health care overhaul.

The event, scheduled for Sept. 2, came about after two days of jovial bickering about health care between the campaigns of the two candidates, who have reserved their strongest barbs for U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter in a battle that is still in its infancy. The town hall will bring together Toomey and Sestak prematurely in the race, considering the two candidates are vying for party nominations -- Sestak as a Democrat, Toomey as a Republican -- that won't be decided for nine months.

''I eagerly accept Congressman Sestak's gracious invitation...'' Toomey said in response."

Sestak's facebook page yesterday suggested holding it at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. They have a guy that can hold about 6,000 people.

1. support Admiral Sestak
Send Sestak money, he's the type of true Democrat supporting healthcare we need in Congress. And tell Specter to not let the door hit him on his way out.

2. Admirable admiral?
I didn't know he was Navy. If you link his campaign website, I would like to read it.

5. Fair enough, but something seems to happen to Democrats when they get
to D.C. and Senators more than Congressional Repbs. I'm feeling disillusioned these days.

However, he has been taking risks speaking out on health care and other things and I like what he is saying now.

I will decide soon because I believe that "Early Money is Like Yeast." (Emily's List.)

6. Poll done a couple weeks ago showed 30 pt. change
Sestak raised $1 million in one month. That was before a Decision2000 Poll a couple weeks ago showed a 30 pt. net change between Specter and Sestak in the Dem primary.

7. IMO, Sestak is being used by Scaife to get at Specter.
Senator Specter is wise to just stay away from this "staged' event. I am disappointed that Sestak has decided to run at all. In other circumstances he would of had my vote, but not this time out. I am sticking with Specter.

9. I doubt it. And, there is no need to criticize me for my opinion.
Obviously, you have a stake in Sestak. I do not intend on working for anyone, but I know who I am voting for and I think you need to come down to earth and realize that Sestak is going to be a hard sell-especially if he only has the support of some grassroots bloggers and some left hardliners. Are you even from the PA area? Senator Specter is a well known and respected representative- especially is the large Philly area. The polls are irrelevant at this point in time. Most people are not paying close attention to this race and we all know how polls can fluctuate. Older PA constituents vote for known candidates and for comfort. Sesak is acting as a spoiler and is benefiting Tomey's campaign. Richard Mellon Scaife is loving this. Tomey is his guy and any way to get rid of Specter is fine with him- even assisting Sestak. Frankly, Tomey's is a nightmare I don't want to experience and I resent Sestak for doing this now.

11. Where did I criticize you for your opinion, whiner?
I just predicted you are backing a loser. Specter has lost all credibility and Sestak is a very sellable candidate.

So which is it; am I on Sestack's payroll or am I some sort of outside agitator?

12. Specter
I see nothing of socially redeeming value to Specter. Remind me which party he belongs to this week? He sure isn't doing anything in terms of supporting Democratic values and issues.

I hope Sestak clobbers him in the primary. I am sick sick sick of the same old same old types going to Washington and selling us out.
