Former CIA chief (Hayden): gains from torture ‘modest’
Source: Examiner

Former Central Intelligence Agency and National Security Agency Director General Michael Hayden said today that an internal CIA report expected to be released Monday will show that CIA interrogators did not uncover any imminent attacks, but did develop other intelligence information on Al Qaeda. Hayden made his remarks at a panel discussion on the privatization of US intelligence this morning at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.

...

Hayden repeated his “look to the future, not back at the past” mantra when asked about the possibility of a special prosecutor to investigate torture and detention, and also mentioned that Federal prosecutors had already deemed all but one of the referrals for criminal conduct related to detainee abuse as not worthy of prosecution.

Hayden also gave a general description of the effectiveness of the interrogation program included in the soon-to-be released CIA IG report. Hayden stated that six key paragraphs describe how the program achieved ‘modest success’ in learning about Al Qaeda organization and leadership, but did not uncover any imminent attacks.

6. The very idea that our government is analyzing the benefits of torture is outrageous.
Regarding torture, we had one shot to get it right after the animals in the Bush administration were out the door. Obama, amazingly, chose to side with the criminals. The moment he did that the opportunity was lost. Had he prosecuted those sociopaths we could have written it off as an aberration caused by a single, deranged administration. But by giving them a pass instead of prosecuting, Obama placed the country's stamp of approval on torture. A new administration and a new party... and they (shockingly) decided that crimes against humanity are not worthy of prosecution. Obama effectively smeared the entire country with the shit of the previous administration, and he institutionalized torture in the process. Like he has done on so many other issues that really matter, his dogged determination to cooperate with predators and avoid taking any principled stands has empowered the brutes. And now we're getting cost/benefit analyses about torture. Unbelievable.

7. Right such modest success that Al Qaeda is as strong today or stronger
than on 9-11 and Bin Laden is still out there...The only reason for it really was that it is how Republicans operate..They are the slime of the earth......

8. Hayden should be hanged as a traitor....
Assuming he isn't just flat out sociopathic insane, that is...
which I would not presently bet against.

This guy is VERY nuts. Strangelove nuts.

(But unlike Scalia, I refuse to execute the insane, so just lock
Hayden up to protect society. It may have to do.)

9. ''Hayden repeated his 'look to the future, not back at the past' mantra''
They always repeat the "'look to the future, not back at the past' mantra."

CIA and NSA alone need about a dozen special prosecutors to investigate treason and other high crimes by the likes of the Dusty Foggo-Duke Cunningham-Jack Abramoff Axis of Warmongers to the politicized domestic spy rings to privatized Operation PHOENIX.
