9. Yunus is from Bangladesh.
And if the world attains a just, sustainable economy in the future, Yunus will be one of its "patron saints."

8. Imagine that! Medals of Freedom for so many who actually deserve such an honor!
As opposed to scum who lied this nation into war.

They all deserved it; but I was especially happy to see Yunus and Milk honored.

10. All deserved the medal ... but
Edited on Wed Aug-12-09 05:46 PM by Tx4obama
I teared up when Sidney Poitier got his medal.
His films really helped America come to age.

A Patch of Blue
A Raisin in the Sun
Guess who's coming to dinner
In the heat of the night
Lilies of the Field
The Blackboard Jungle

All had an effect on me growing up and I believe many others.

I just love him and I am so very happy that he was shown this honor by the President and America!

13. Uh-oh, Robinson.
Robinson has an excellent resume. But she worked as the UN Human Rights Commissioner, and that makes me uneasy. Anything in the UN with "human rights" in the name is usually a platform for virulent antisemitism.

Anybody have more information?

17. Bolton?
He's still in politics? I thought he slithered away a while ago.

Still doesn't help answer the question.

16. That's wonderful
I got tears in my eyes reading this list.

So fantastic that President Obama is at the helm. It's amazing that Stuart Milk accepted an award on behalf of his uncle.
