Polls: World Not Pleased With Bush
A majority of people in Canada, Mexico and five European countries have an unfavorable view of the role that President Bush plays in world affairs, Associated Press polls found.

Only in the United States did a majority of those questioned, 57 percent, have a positive view of President Bush's role.

The AP polls were conducted by Ipsos, an international polling firm, in Britain, Canada, France, Italy, Germany, Mexico, Spain and the United States.

Just over half in Mexico and Italy had a negative view of Mr. Bush's role. In Britain, the closest U.S. ally in the war in Iraq, and in Canada, two-thirds had a negative view.

18. Is there a law against a foreign person giving money to an American
Edited on Fri Mar-05-04 05:57 AM by SoCalDem
"ordinary" person?? The ordinary US person could do whatever they wanted with the money

What if American people set up cafepress shops with paypal..and sold stuff to foreigners.. The money they sent through paypal, "could" be used for whatever the owner of the site wanted ...right?? The limit is now $4000.00 right??

There have to be more than a few entrepreneurs with "civic" feelings who would just love to have foreigners buy stuff from their shops, so that they could "do whatever they wanted" with the money

8. Notice the subtle manipulation of the bad news?
"Just over half in Mexico and Italy had a negative view of Mr. Bush's role."

Oh...over half is, like...51 - 52%, right? And that'sgood, right? Oh, wait...over half NEGATIVE! I get it!

"...two-thirds had a negative view."

2/3...quick, Mrs. Wal Martyr, what's that as a percentage? You know "percentages," right? They're those things you see in EVERY OTHER FREAKING POLL...numbers. But not, apparently, when the numbers are so horribly bad for Mr. Chimpy.

Subtle, but effective.

Remember Citizen Dick (Pearl Jam with Matt Dillon)? This reminds me of when they are sitting in the restaurant and (I forget which PJ guy)the guy is reading the review of their latest album and he says "not selling well in, bla, bla, bla, but they're REALLY big in Belgium. Did you hear that? We're REALLY big in Belgium guys."

13. Bush had the goodwill of the world after 9-11 and squandered it
in less than three years time.

Bush couldn't even address the British Parliament for fear of being booed and MPs walking out.

Junior does not have the requisite leadership skills to be President of the United States.

"Word of the 2000-mile wide open door between
Mexico and the U.S. has spread far beyond Mexico.
It is not just Mexicans who are flooding into our border
states anymore. Along with the Nicaraguans, Brazilians,
Venezuelans, Ecuadorians, and Chileans, agents of the
Border Patrol now encounter Chinese, Pakistanis, and Indians."

Bush Amnesty Sparks Surge in Border Crossings

On Jan. 27, the Copley News Service reported that shortly after President Bush announced his plans to amnesty millions of illegal aliens in the U.S., more than half of the Mexicans trying to sneak into the U.S. through San Ysidro (search) told authorities they were doing so to position themselves for the amnesty.

Maybe they've seen exactly how unpleasant Bush's foreign policy is and
recognise that it's a damn sight safer inside the US than outside it?

16. So, the poll was from the "people" of these countries and not
the leaders? They dislike Bush and I can't blame them for that but Mexico is on my shit list. Fox and Bush are way too "chummy" on a lot of issues. It's important, imo, to know the feelings, the difference, between the citizens of another country and what their Leaders think of us/Bush.

17. On a political panel TV show in the UK last night
a member of the audience asked "who would be better for Britain, Kerry or Bush?"
The Conservative diplomatically said "Well, Republicans tend to agree with Conservatives more, so I tend to prefer them. That doesn't mean I like Bush."
The Labour politician (member of the House of Lords, so he can't be sacked by Blair) just said: "Bush is a maniac".

19. Can report two cab rides into London from Heathrow this a.m. --
both drivers talked American politics the whole time. They have grave concerns about Bush, his arrogant foreign policy, his environmental record, and are very curious about Kerry, what kind of man he is, and whether he can beat Bush. They know Bush stole the 2000 election, and one fears he will steal another, if necessary.

21. I sense a worldwide groundswell, both in and outside the U.S.,
among people of intelligence and common sense, to get George Bush out of our White House, and away from the power that House gives him to affect the lives of people all over the planet.
