Impeachment Panel to Subpoena Conn. Gov,

By JOHN CHRISTOFFERSEN

Associated Press Writer

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A legislative committee considering whether Gov. John G. Rowland should be impeached plans to issue its first subpoenas Thursday, seeking financial records of Rowland and his wife, lawmakers said.

State Rep. John Wayne Fox, co-chairman of the House Select Committee of Inquiry, said he expects the panel to ultimately seek Rowland's testimony in the probe of alleged corruption.

The subpoenas will seek records dating to 1995, including checkbooks, receipts, bills, tax returns and expenses the governor has incurred for his summer cottage, said Fox. The committee also is seeking information on the purchase of property and gifts, he said.

The state House of Representatives voted last month to establish the inquiry committee after the governor admitted lying about accepting gifts for the cottage from friends, politically appointed employees and a state contractor.

I'm going to check my local news site. This sounds great !

This is F-ed up. The main CT webste www.CTnow.com has nothing on this. What's wrong with this Country?

On the up side, as a CT resident I can joyfully say "Up yours Rowland, you'll get what you deserve!"
