Hate-crime charges have been added to case against James von Brunn

WASHINGTON - A federal grand jury has indicted the white supremacist accused of fatally shooting a security guard at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington.

Hate-crime charges have been added to the case against James von Brunn, who has been in a hospital since the shooting last month.

Officials say the 89-year-old shot and killed museum guard Stephen T. Johns. Von Brunn was shot in the face by other guards.

A seven-count indictment was handed up Wednesday in U.S. District Court, charging von Brunn with first-degree murder, killing in a federal building and bias-motivated crime. The case has sparked renewed calls for expanded hate crimes legislation.

survived his wounds is beyond me.

Too bad he just couldn't have kicked the bucket and saved us taxpayers the expense of a long trial and future incarceration.

I don't normally feel like this and respect our system of justice and the right to a trial by jury. But this guy sure gives me pause.

As far as the "left wing" characterization perpetrated by Limbaugh, this is the result of that specious work, "Liberal Fascism" by Jonah Goldberg. Now some people on the extreme right feel that they have justification for projecting their darkest philosophies onto their political antagonists. I am vexed by this trend. How do we fight this Orwellian concept?
