Iraqi forces restricting US military

BAGHDAD – An Iraqi military commander is comparing new restrictions on U.S. forces to "house arrest," saying they can no longer patrol freely as in the past.

Col. Ali Fadhil, a brigade commander in Baghdad, was commenting Monday following the completion of the U.S. military withdrawal from urban areas on June 30. He cited one occasion when Iraqi troops turned down a U.S. request to conduct a raid in the capital, and did it themselves instead.

Fadhil says the Americans are now confined to what he calls "prison-like" bases. The arrangement stems from a security agreement that requires all U.S. troops to be out of Iraq by the end of 2011.

3. Bring 'em Home.
If they are confined to "prison-like bases" then bring 'em home. I know where you can get a "Mission Accomplished" banner. Only used once.

6. In other words our troops are now sitting ducks.
I thought immediately of the Marines in Beirut.

9. Well at least the marines in Iraq have bullets in their rifles...
Wasn't it Beirut in which the guards didn't have ammo in their guns for reason or another?

7. Uhh....wasn't that the GOAL?
"He cited one occasion when Iraqi troops turned down a U.S. request to conduct a raid in the capital, and did it themselves instead"

So there were militants in Baghdad, the U.S. tipped off the Iraqi security forces about their location, and the Iraqi's raided the location themselves and neutralized the target. The baddies were taken down, U.S. soldiers were kept out of harms way, and the Iraqi's took another step towards owning their own nation again.

What exactly is the problem here?
