RNC chairman attacks Obama on health care

By DAVID ESPO, AP Special Correspondent – 44 mins ago

WASHINGTON – The chairman of the Republican party is accusing President Barack Obama of conducting "risky experimentation" with his health care proposals, saying they will hurt the economy and force millions to drop their current coverage. Michael Steele, in remarks prepared for delivery at the National Press Club, also said the president, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and key congressional committee chairmen are part of a "cabal" that wants to implement government-run health care.

"Many Democrats outside of the Obama-Pelosi-Reid-Waxman cabal know that voters won't stand for these kinds of foolish prescriptions for our health care. We do too. That's why Republicans will stop at nothing to remind voters about the risky experimentation going on in Washington," the party chairman said in advance excerpts. Harry Reid, D-Nev., is Senate majority leader; Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., is chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Republican officials said they were supplementing Steele's speech with a round of television advertising designed to oppose government-run health care. No details were immediately available on the areas where the commercials would run or their cost.

- snip -

The president "tells us he doesn't want to spend more than we have, he doesn't want the deficit to go up, he doesn't want to live off borrowed money. But he also told us he didn't want to run an auto company. President Obama justifies this spending by saying the devil made him do it. He doesn't want to spend trillions we can't afford, but he says he just can't help it," Steele said in the prepared excerpts.

6. He's the former Lt. Gov. of Maryland
Someone who lost when he tried for the Senate, rejected by the voters of his own state. Steele only became RNC Chair after six rounds of ballotting, basically winning because he was the least unpopular candidate.

Obama is the President of the United States, elected by a margin of over nine million votes.

Who matters more?

:sarcasm:

isn't this the chap who said last weekend that Obama had added $10 trillion deficit within 6 months to the $1 trillion that he inherited from Bush when the fact of the matter is that Bush left a $10 deficit and a $1 trillion budget deficit ....

Lame Steele & Repubs trying to attribute all evils to Obama ...

THE REPUBLICAN GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING ...

8. Frank Luntz Talking Points Repeated
Luntz has honed the fear talking points to where the words used somewhat hide the true message of fear. But make no mistake, this is the same old message of fear that likewise lacks a message on what the Republican counter proposal is. The party of "no" is rearing its ugly head once again. Nothing more, nothing less. In part this is somewhat successful because, as Walter Cronkite recently said, MSM no longer does analysis and as David Gregory recently said "that's not our job".

10. Yep, "that's not our job"
You have exactly pinpointed the problem. "News" has degenerated from reporting to parroting talking points, left v. right. Everything is political now instead of factual. Instead of the reporter calling up Steele to explain his accusations, his fear quotes are repeated without question. The reporters think is then up to the Democrats to get up and say, "That's not right," so the AP can post their response. Of course it's nearly impossible for the Democrats to win this game because the GOP knows how to start the fear game and put them at a massive disadvantage.

9. The AP is doing a great job posting press releases from the RNC
Does smearing TV and the pages of the internet and newspapers with this crap still work? People know what they see with their own eyes and spend from their own pocketbooks. The GOP can't do anything but say how horrible it is without giving us a solution.
