Man convicted of throwing snowballs at US embassy
http://pub.tv2.no/nettavisen/english/article194380.ece

Apparently, throwing snowballs is far from harmless, and it may be expensive too. At least that was the case for the man convicted of throwing snowballs at the US embassy in Oslo.

3. was there a grenade in the snowball?
I mean aren't the windows and building designed to withstand a riot? I'd imagine they'd be able to withstand a snowball....

5. Absurd when considering the drug drops going on in Oslo, openly
Last summer in Oslo, while I was waiting for the bus at 1:00 a.m., I saw a bag of drugs being dropped from a 3rd story building to the guy on the street below...very obvious.

Normally the US embassies wouldn't have to care about a snowball, but now that its become the world's pariah, that's all changed.

6. Back in the 80s I used to go to Caracas frequently, usually stayed at
a nice little hotel that ran ads in one of the newspapers reading "Just a stone's throw from the US Embassy."
;-)

I never found out whether the double-entendre was intentional...

11. I must respectfully reserve judgment
I question whether we are getting the exact story. While the text says "he was found guilty of attacking the American embassy in Oslo with snowballs while under influence of alcohol."

It goes on to say, "According to the formal complaint filed on the man, the man threw snowballs on the guards outside the embassy, the building and on the police’s guard station. Furthermore, he tried to climb over the fence and onto the embassy area."

Throwing snowballs at a building is not the same thing as throwing snowballs at the police. I would love to read the actual charge sheet. It seems to me the fellow is guilty of:

1) Assaulting a police officer (sorry, but throwing a snowball is technically assault).

2) Criminal trespass.

3) Public drunkenness.

If he was in fact tried on those charges then it would seem completely correct that he be convicted, especially in light of this statement:

"The court viewed the incident as aggravating since the man had twice before been fined similar incidents."

The guy has a problem. I can tell you that drunks are very unpredictable and potentially violent. If I were in the police's shoes, he would be arrested and charged.

13. Mother Nature should also be convicted for snowing on the place too
After all, she's responsible for much more snow hitting the building than this guy is... or should they also convict God as well? I'm not sure on the difference between the two. Perhaps it should be God Does 1-infinity to be legally correct....
