FBI seizes party records on N.J. Democratic donor

TRENTON - FBI agents served a search warrant at New Jersey Democratic Party headquarters yesterday, carting away records on a party fund-raiser, authorities said.

Agents sought documents - including campaign-finance records - dating to June 1, 2000, and involving David Damiano, a Middlesex County hauler and recycler, authorities familiar with the inquiry said.

State Democratic Party fund-raising during Gov. McGreevey's 2001 campaign has been a focus of federal investigators for months, and FBI agents previously removed other records from the office.

Agents arrived at the offices of the Democratic State Committee, down the street from the Statehouse, late in the morning and left by midafternoon, officials said.<snip>
