Ex-Ambassador Wilson to name names
March 2, 2004  |  WASHINGTON (AP) -- Former Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson will reveal the name of the person he thinks leaked his wife's identity as an undercover CIA officer in a book due out in May, his publisher said Tuesday.

A federal grand jury has heard testimony from at least four White House officials in its investigation to identify the leaker of Valerie Plame's name to syndicated columnist Robert Novak, who published the name in his syndicated column last July. Numerous other officials have been interviewed by the FBI.

1. I'd never heard of Joe Wilson before the Plame --
-- case, but it does seem safe to say that it was a tactical error for "a White House insider" to go and piss him off.

I hope the book sizzles and sells a trillion copies.

2. SCRUMPtious!
"The leaker could be charged with a felony that carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison."

I'm a law and order dem, by God.

7. This is bullshit!
If he knows who did it he should say it on national TV. Nobody's going to know about the this if you have to pay $30 for a book that'll end up being 400 pages too long anyway.

Name the names already, if your story's THAT compelling people will buy it anyway. It really relegates this incident to the ridiculous heap when it becomes a publicity stunt.

8. He's probably been asked not to.
Not yet, anyway. It would seem that there is an active investigation of possible criminal activity. He probably doesn't want to jeoprodize the investigation. On the other hand , by stating his intent to "name names" in the future he puts pressure on them to actually finish the investigation instead of stalling. That's my take, anyway.

9. More power to him.
The very idea that anyone would want to take a kick at the former ambassador is bizarre. He is most certainly entitled to be rip-roaring enraged at the vicious attack on his wife.

The Bush administration should NOT be allowed to simply strike her, and then swallow the evidence. It was an immoral, treacherous act, and there is NO JUSTIFICATION.

If the author wants to publish this book, I hope it will be widely discussed, and a tremendous means of satisfaction to him and his wife, and a royal pain to the actual criminals involved.
