Cheney fears Iraq withdrawal will 'waste' U.S. sacrifices
Source: Wash Times

Former Vice President Dick Cheney on Monday said he is concerned about U.S. forces withdrawing from Iraqi cities within 24 hours.

Mr. Cheney told The Washington Times' America's Morning News radio show that he is a strong believer in Gen. Ray Odierno, commander of U.S. forces in Iraq, and that the general is doing what needs to be done.

"But what he says concerns me: That there is still a continuing problem. One might speculate that insurgents are waiting as soon as they get an opportunity to launch more attacks.

"I hope Iraqis can deal with it. At some point they have to stand on their own. But I would not want to see the U.S. waste all the tremendous sacrifice that has gotten us to this point."

3. thousands of soldiers have died and sacrificed
so that even more soldiers can be there indefinitely, and sacrifice, and then we can't allow THOSE sacrifices to go in vain, so we'll have to keep sending more soldiers so as not to waste the sacrifice that has already taken place.

10. Yep, the endless war scenario. This was also the refrain used
during Viet Nam...I was a child then, but I already knew it was BS.

37. police who die in the line of duty & the criminal gets away don't die in vain
neither do firefighters who die trying to put out a fire. They made the ultimate sacrifice-leaving Iraq does not alter this fact. Male pride should not be the reason we continue to occupy Iraq. Our soldiers: 6 weeks basic training, Iraqi "police": 5 plus years

((((((((((((((what does THAT tell you)))))))))))))))

Cheney insults all the men & women who've died while on duty.

29. Oh that minor point? Not worth mentioning. It ruins
the neo-con fun.
On CNN john king yesterday was talking about what would be on his morning show...and he blathered about how Iraq wasn't ready for this but it was a political decision by Iraqi President who wanted to show he was in charge and by President Obama who wanted to keep campaign promise.
Only he didn't say it that nice. I naively expected him to bring up it was made and signed during bush administration but that Obama could have tried to renegotiate it or something. Maybe he went into that during show...but not during this conversation in a show preceding it. He snottily made it sound like Obama decided to do this bad thing for political gain.

I remember this bc Obama was campaigning on a withdrawal within this time frame, when Bush announced something very similar.

Guess Cheney couldn't bully even Dummya into giving up the withdrawal idea, so now he's trying to bully Obama into it.

This is for you, graywarrior. I wanted to post it on a thread of yours a while back, but couldn't manage it in time.
Though it isn't very good, technically speaking, I hope you enjoy it.

20. Actually, for once, he's probably correct.
"One might speculate that insurgents are waiting as soon as they get an opportunity to launch more attacks."

Who doubts that they will start attacking when we retreat from Iraq? I wonder if they'll end up like Afghanistan.

21. They were wasted the day they invaded on false pretenses.
And it was CHENEY who wasted them.

The entire war was unnecessary - so how is withdrawing them any more of a waste than sending them in in the first place?

Edited on Mon Jun-29-09 11:09 AM by Hulk
That pig has no shame. He, and his spawn daughter, need to be spat at in public and he needs to be tried and put behind bars for all the death and destruction that he is responsible for.

Maybe they can build a little special unit over at Guatanamo for he and his bitch wife and ass-wipe daughter, who has desperately been trying to spin her evil father's workings into something of value?

He needs to rot in hell.

Edited on Mon Jun-29-09 02:46 PM by Zorra
that's not their fight. Or to spend more taxpayer money so that private oil companies could take over Iraq's oil. Or to increase your Halliburton Company profits manyfold.

Fuck you, Dick Cheney.

May history portray you as the greedy, bloodthirsty monster that you really are.
