Democrats rip governor before state speech (FL)

TALLAHASSEE -- Echoing themes Democrats are using against President Bush nationally, legislative Democrats on Monday slammed Gov. Jeb Bush, saying he has exported jobs from Florida, let public education worsen and given tax cuts to the state's wealthiest residents.

In a so-called "pre-sponse" to the State of the State speech Bush will give today, Democratic leaders Rep. Doug Wiles and Sen. Ron Klein instead pushed a plan to open the state employees' health-care plan to small businesses, refocus FCAT testing for public schools, and stop contracting with companies who either avoid U.S. taxes or ship jobs overseas.

"Gov. Bush needs to stop worrying about creating jobs in New Delhi and start worrying about job creation in places like New Port Richey, Newberry and New Smyrna Beach," said Wiles, of St. Augustine.

"The Republicans have veered off the road," said Klein, of Delray Beach.

2. Nothing like the soon-to-be-famous Democratic PRE-SPONSE to a Bush speech
Why wait 'til AFTER the Republican white-wash?

Why not remind people of what Bush will be trying to avoid, misrepresent, or deny altogether, so they'll be honed to spot it in his speech?

From the article:
"The Republicans have veered off the road," said Klein, of Delray Beach.

3. Newberry, LOL

He forgot that Jeb did bring jobs to Newberry, when he let his buddies build that great big cement plant out there. The one that no one in Alachua County wanted. The one that people did everything they could to stop from being built. Heck, they created 80 whole jobs with that project, most of which were filled by people from other places. In exchange Jeb brought the people of Newberry a lot of noise and pollution to a formerly quiet North Florida town. See Jeb creates jobs, it's just they're dirty jobs that no one who actually lives here wants.

5. Don't forget about Florida's largest city -Miami- the poorest in the USA
Miami has more Section 8 assisted housing per capita than any other large US city.
