Iraq fails to meet Bush deadline
http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2004/02/29/1077989432265.html

<snip>Iraqi political leaders have failed to meet the Bush Administration's deadline for an interim constitution because of continuing disputes between the country's two principal groups of Muslims.

Under a US-Iraqi plan drawn up in November, a transitional constitution was to have been completed by midnight on February 28 (early yesterday, Melbourne time).

Although members of Iraq's US-appointed Governing Council, the body charged with drafting the document, expressed optimism that they would reach a compromise over the next few days, they said significant disagreements remained.

"There are serious problems," council member Muwaffaq al-Rubaie said. The delay is not expected to affect US plans to hand over sovereignty to Iraq on June 30, but the failure to meet the deadline represented another element of the Bush Administration's political transition plan that has gone unfulfilled.

1. Missed the deadline?
Does that mean Bush is going to start bombing them again?

3. Bush officially controls Iraq. Bush missed his own deadline.

The deadline was put out to stall for time, anyway. Watching BushCo is like watching someone who is way over their head but won't admit it.

More specifically, my hypothesis is:
I don't think that BushCo is all that powerful. I just think that they are totally inept and are more than willing to do whatever their corporate backers ask/tell them to do. Their corporate backers are only interested in the health of their own company and they think that Bush is actually taking care of the country, but Bush thinks that his corporate backers are giving him advice to help the country. So since BushCo is relying on his corporate backers to give advice to help the country and his corporate backers are only interested in helping their own bank accounts, reputation, contacts, etc., noone in the executive office is actually looking after our nations interests.

You must produce a product (like McConstitutions) on time or you won't receive your McChristmas bonus!

5. Don't worry. I heard on FAUX that they'll get it taken care of today.
Morons. It's a constitution for a country, not the take-out order at work. When you have a group saying Islamic Law and a group saying not and a group saying rights for women and a group saying not, HOW ARE YOU GOING TO GET THAT SOLVED IN ONE DAY?
