There was a lot of activity between July, when Vought's purchase of Aerostructures Corp. was finalized, and October, when the company's board convened in Nashville.
Then things changed.
''It went quiet in November,'' said Nancy Eisenbrandt, senior vice president for business services for the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce. ''They didn't return our calls.''

Cooper said the company had underestimated the political repercussions for closing the Nashville plant and eliminating 1,000 good-paying jobs.

Officials from Cooper's office, as well as Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander, met with Vought officials in Nashville Friday afternoon and asked the company to reconsider its decision.
