Ohio woman gives birth to sextuplets, all in one minute
AKRON, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio woman gave birth to sextuplets Thursday, and doctors said all six babies and the mother were doing well.

Jennifer Hanselman, 29, of Cuyahoga Falls, gave birth to the three girls and three boys within one minute at Akron General Medical Center.

"The speed at which the babies came out was overwhelming. It was like a popcorn popper," the babies' grinning father, Keith Hanselman, told reporters.

Be jesus, they came out like a popcorn popper ... unfreakinbelieveable!

Nurse! Get the net, and fast!

Heck, that's one every 16.6 seconds. I'm surprised the doctor was able to turn around and hand them off to the nurse(s) that quickly.

13. Your calculator needs new batteries.
That's one every 12 seconds, assuming the entire process started
at Baby 1 at T0 and ended with Baby 6 at T60.

5. Litters are usually pretty small
Multiple birth babies are usually significantly smaller than single or twin births.

Still, it is a comical image--like a pitching machine gone crazy.

19. maybe superman Dad ...
Maybe he didn't know the difference between vaginal and C-section birthing - too busy *grinning* I guess. I agree, I think it is sick myself. Six babies with tubes and God only knows what else wrong ... what a nightmare.

Why fertility drugs at the age of ~29? Do they hand these out like candy now too in our new era of the BFEE? The more the merrier perhaps ...

14. Ohio? Big family? Odds on they'll try to make 'em Republicans.
Ohio? Big family? (And she almost certainly declined
"selective reduction".) Odds on they'll try to make
'em Republicans.

But sometimes it doesn't "take".

12. That is so sad.
Life is hard enough, and those babies have such a tough start. Their mommy can't hold them, all day long, like she would have been able to do if they were full term and healthy. There will be questions about potential cerebal palsy, pulmonary problems, likely vision problems, etc, over the next few years. And those babies have to start out with tubes, etc.

I guess they were conceived with help of fertility drugs? I don't see any excuse for a doctor allowing a woman to get pregnant with that many available follicles or in vitro eggs.

I don't even want to think about the medical expense.

20. They'll get all sorts of freebies
Someone will build them a big new house, they'll get three double strollers, lifetime burgers at Burger King, etc, etc.

Remember the black couple who had 6 or 7 babies and got nothing?

Personally, I think this is an abomination. Sometimes fundie couples go in for fertility treatments, pledging to "thin the herd," then when the time comes, refuses to eliminate any of the embryos to help two or three survive.

25. Thanks for your post.
You're right, if they are white, they'll get a buch of junk and be propaganda for diaper commercials. The daddy in the McCaughey septuplet group makes a living giving speeches. (Gimme a break.) But the Black couple in Houston didn't get much of anything. IIRC, they might have been Muslim; does anyone remember for certain?

I understand if someone has a problem with selective abortion. What bugs me is that there are doctors who will proceed with an insemination or not bother to do an ultrasound to see how many follicles (mature eggs) a woman has produced. If there are more than two, the doctor can tell them to avoid unprotected intercourse or abort the insemination until a later cycle when they aren't likely to get multiple births.
