BNP (British National Party) poster campaign for British workers uses American actors
Source: The Mirror (UK0

EXCLUSIVE by Gary Anderson 16/05/2009

The poster demands “British jobs for British workers” and it shows three smiling men in hard-hats urging people to vote BNP. But the “building workers” in the ad – which is being driven up and down the country on a BNP vehicle called the “Truth Truck” – are not even British. They are American models who posed for a general photo agency shoot in Portland, Oregon, in the United States.

Another shot in the same set shows a black man working alongside white colleagues – but the racist BNP didn’t use that one.

Party bosses, led by Nick Griffin, have also printed millions of leaflets making bogus claims that a doctor and a respectable OAP couple are among their supporters.

A distinguished-looking medic is quoted saying: “I’m voting BNP because I see what immigration has done to the NHS. As a doctor I want to see an end to ‘health tourists’ and make sure British nurses are employed and paid fairly.” But the man in the picture is another American model from a stock photo library.

1. They're saving money with cheap foreign labor.
For God's sake, why should they pay British actors those enormous amounts, plus their VAT tax? Go get some cheap American actors, who are literally starving for work. It's not as if quality of work matters in acting, anyway.

3. Ha ha ha - talk about missing the point of your message via the messenger!

That would be as silly as a black president arguing against marriage equality for other Americans based on sex of those who wish to marry! Uh - er, I mean...

(... nevermind. shhhhh - I wasn't here...)

7. British jobs for British workers, all right! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!
Seriously, I hope the Bloody Nasty People don't make any inroads in the elections. They are not likely ever to get a seat in parliament, but they have had seats on councils here.

They are mostly utter idiots - the 'Get a Brain, Morans' bloke might well have been a BNP member if he had been English. But they are dangerous, even without brains.

13. The trouble is...
...that with the main parties exposed as corrupt people are more likely to vote BNP as a protest vote. :scared:

And the trouble with that approach is that the BNP's track record in local government is apallingly bad and shows that they are no better then many of the worst abusers of MP's expenses.

And on that note I think it best to post the UK forum thread about the upcoming County Council and European Parliament elections as the BNP threat seems to be the main topic on there. That is not really that much of a suprise given that there is a very real risk of the BNP picking up county council seats and getting seats in the European Parliament.

16. What about the Liberal Democrats?
How are they doing these days?

I seem to remember the Green party managed to get a seat or two in the European Parliament, too. Are they still getting votes?

18. Lib Dems have been caught up in the expenses scandal
MP's such as Chris Huhne and Ming Campbell have had dodgy claims of their own exposed by the Telegraph.

If you want something more positive from the Lib Dem's about all this, Nick Clegg is calling for recall elections to be introduced in the UK

http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2008/mar/06/nickclegg.liberaldemocrats

And the Greens could well do well this year with mainstream politics being so discredited.

8. Given that most blacks here are infact English
Edited on Sun May-17-09 05:39 AM by dipsydoodle
having been born in the UK , children and grandchildren of late 1950's immigrants on assisted passage from the Caribbean , it was also absurd for them to have excluded the other picture mentioned assuming it did have a black person in it.

9. We're a nation of bloody mongrels, anyway.
Back in the early 80s one conservative group came up with the idea of giving blacks £5,000 to go home. Comedian Lenny Henry commented: "That's great. It's only 15 quid on the train back to Birmingham."

10. To my mind
there is whole load of difference between the group I mentioned, who brought their own flava into our society, and subsequent events of late.

15. Clips are still shown from time to time.
The whole point of that series was to make fun of racists and bigots.

17. I know...
that it was a satire on racism, you know it was a satire on racism, but there are an awful lot of people out there who were laughing with Alf and not at him.

What I actually meant was that you couldn't make a mainstream comedy broadcast at 8pm using that kind of language now.

11. Nationalist parties tend to be either clueless, or aiming for the votes of the clueless
We also have, in this election:

http://www.chickyog.net.nyud.net:8080/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/ukip_winston.jpg

It was the UKIP one that caught my eye, however. I thought I knew a fair bit about British history but I never knew that the late Winston Churchill was a member of UKIP (est. 1993).

This must be a different Winston Churchill than the one who called for a ‘United States of Europe‘ in 1946 and suggested the creation of a European Army under a unified command in 1950. Otherwise UKIP would be guilty of misleading and pointless jingoism and I’m sure that can’t be the case.

http://www.chickyog.net/2009/05/12/ukip-churchill-says-no-to-europe/

And the BNP and its Polish Spitfire:

Anti-fascist campaigners have laughed off a claim by the British National Party that it deliberately chose to feature a Second World War Spitfire piloted by a Pole on its European elections poster.

The group Unite against Fascism (UAF) issued a press release last week pointing out that the Spitfire used in the BNP's "Battle for Britain" campaign could be clearly identified by its RF marking as belonging to 303 Squadron, an expatriate Polish unit, even though the BNP campaigns against immigration from Eastern Europe.
...
"The person who brought this to our attention was someone from the RAF who thought it was disgusting that the battle against the Nazis had been hijacked by racists," said Weymann Bennett, the organisation's joint secretary.
...
Nor were they just there for adornment. The 303 Squadron, also known as the Kościuszko squadron, claimed 126 enemy kills - more than any other unit during the Battle of Britain - even though it did not become operational until the end of August, two months after the battle had started.

12. Right Wing Idiots
It's not just UKIP who think they own the flag and won the war. Watch any Tory party political broadcast and you'd never know that Churchill spent a good part of his career in the Liberal Party, headed a National Unity Government that included Labour and Liberal members, and even had a Labour deputy PM. Oh, and over 90% of the German army that we (Yanks and Brits) beat was actually on the Russian front. Maybe they should put pictures of Stalin on their posters...
