Lab tests show snake head found in TGI Friday's meal was not cooked
Source: Dallas Morning News

TGI Friday's said lab tests show that a snake head a customer said he found in a Friday's meal was never cooked – indicating it was put on the plate after it left the chef.

Amy Freshwater, a spokeswoman for Carrollton-based Friday’s said the company will "prosecute the individual or individuals involved."

A customer in Clifton Park, New York said he found a severed snake head under his broccoli on Sunday.

He snapped a picture of the head, then showed it to the manager, who apologized and comped the diner’s meal.

-----

"It has been concluded that the snake’s head was placed in the food at some point after the cooking process."

1. hmmmm....
you know, that is a pretty common way to get a free meal... Just make sure everyone who touched the plate after it left the chef is investigated.

2. You think after that finger-in-the-chile story a few years ago
people would have learned. It happened at a Wendy's in San Jose, CA. Totally planted.

10. Hair is a fave...
Once I waited on a guy who complained there was a hair in his meal. The hair was short, straight and light brown, just like the hair on his head. My hair was long and bleach blonde at the time, and every cook in the kitchen was a black guy, half with bald heads.

Since he had eaten a salad before the meal, the manager charged the guy for the salad bar. Then the guy owned up to doing it himself because he didn't have any money on him.

This was a wealthy area and the guy was dressed head to toe in designer threads.

18. I have one too
It wasn't my table, but it was during a shift I was working.... A couple came in and had drinks and apps, then the entrees arrived. The waiter went back to check on them and was told "there is a hair in this enchilada"..... a long blond hair. It just so happened that there was not one blond person working that night, and in fact no blonds with long hair even employed at the cafe. Needless to say, the lady at the table had long blond hair. I do not remember if the manager caved and comped the meal (corporate restaurants tend to comp people regardless just to get them out... in my experience), but I do know he explained that there were no blond people working on the line or in front-of-house and if it had been a short black hair, then it would make a lot more sense seeing as how everyone in the kitchen was from mexico and points south etc. Those people did have the decency to look embarrassed when they left.

5. really!

We have all heard about disgruntled employees putting crap on our food.Remember the little girl found a rubber in her hamburger or the policemen who found stuff put in their food.It doesn't have to be cooked for this to happen. While I was a policeman I found what appeared to be armpit or public hair in my hamburger when I was putting salt and pepper on it.The cook was fired and I never ate anything in a restaurant without checking it first.

Use only cooked snake heads in the 'snake head in the broccoli' free meal scam.

In an episode of The Rockford Files, Angel gets his restaurant meal for free because he carries a vial of silverfish which he secretly dumps on his salad.

13. My husband found a fly in his meal today
Edited on Sat May-09-09 09:33 PM by Carni
This is no joke...

We went out to eat at a place that is fairly pricey and in the past it has always been good.

Husband took about three bites and says "Oh, what the F?"

I looked over and there in his sauce was said fly struggling to find it's way free of the sauce (talk about gross)

I was about to gag, so he snagged the thing with a cocktail napkin and flagged the waitress.

We told her what was up--in a very QUIET, discreet way and she says "OH so what do you want me to do?" As if to say this is no big deal (why don't you take a big bite there lady--wish I had thought to say that)

He said just send this back and no, I don't want another order of any kind.

She acted like we had planted the damned fly in the food (uh hello? If I were doing that I think we would have done it AFTER he had taken more than three bites)

It was VERY weird--no manager's visit to apologize, nothing...and there were incidentally, flies flying all over the restaurant (they have an outdoor patio)

It was just gross and not handled properly at all. We will not be returning.

16. I had a similar experience
at a seafood place in Tampa, but with a different outcome
I was halfway thru my salad when a fly landed and got stuck in the bleu cheese dressing, so I just set the salad aside
When the waiter brought the dinners, he asked if I was finished with my salad and I just pointed to the struggling insect
He asked if he could bring me a new salad, but I said no, I was finished anyway
After we finished our meal and he brought the check, he said there was no charge for my dinner
I should have ordered the lobster
