EU and US reach deal in beef row
Source: BBC News

The US and the European Union (EU) have reached a provisional deal to end a dispute over an EU ban on US hormone-treated beef.

The move should prevent the US from implementing $116.8m (£77.5m) in new retaliatory duties on European products such as French cheese.

The EU claims that beef treated with certain growth hormones poses a health risk to humans.
>
The four-year agreement will provide the US with additional duty-free access to the EU market for cattle that have not been treated with hormones.

That means you'll have your Roquefort. :) I've got some of that in the freezer. It's been there since 1988 - still seems to be ok though.

1. Just from reading the "short version" it looks like the European...................
.........won this battle. The US got duty free access but only for cattle NOT Treated with hormones. Again, we, the American consumer will get screwed. We'll get to eat the "retarded" (as Katt Williams says) beef.

2. You've got similar issues with milk too
or so I believe : http://green.yahoo.com/blog/daily_green_news/37/a-hormone-free-milk-labeling-victory.html

That's obviously don't affect us in Europe. I think our food labelling requirements may differ from your anyway.

The whole subject is really in the hands of consumers - if it's shit don't buy it.

3. That's a problem here as the labeling (if you want to call it that) is.................
...............very minimal and intentionally confusing. We need a bunch of things "fixed" over here, this is just one of many, many, many, many...........
