Wal-Mart to Pay Victims of Stampede
Source: Newsday

Mega-retailer Wal-Mart will pay an unspecified sum to victims hurt in a stampede that left a security guard trampled to death at a Valley Stream store during an after-Thanksgiving sale.

The Nassau County district attorney's office is expected to announce the agreement with Wal-Mart Wednesday, more than five months after a security guard was killed by stampeding shoppers on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, when stores typically flood with people looking for bargains...Damour's family, as well as several people who were caught up in the melee, filed lawsuits against Wal-Mart. The chain has said it had hired additional security personnel, staffed the store with more employees and erected barricades at the Green Acres Mall location in anticipation of a crowd.

3. I have seen those crowds at Wal-Mart on the day after Black Friday
It is a wonder more incidents have not happened in the past.

Unless Wal-Mart does something about crowd control, this will happen again and again and other stores.

6. Now why was that my first thought, too?
It can't be that great minds think alike, because I'm deficient on that score.
