First lady: 'Sesame Street' tops everything so far
Source: AP

NEW YORK (AP) — Inauguration Day? Nope. First puppy? Negative. Triumphal tour of Europe? Not even. First lady Michelle Obama called her appearance Tuesday on "Sesame Street" probably the best thing she's done since arriving in the White House.

At the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, she thanked the diplomats and staff members promoting her husband's new foreign policy of global engagement.

"I'm thrilled to be here, but I was just at 'Sesame Street' — I'm sorry," she said. "And I never thought I'd be on 'Sesame Street' with Elmo and Big Bird and I was thrilled. I'm still thrilled. I'm on a high."

"I think it's probably the best thing I've done so far in the White House. But we were there talking about nutrition and healthy eating, and it's just been a thrill," Mrs. Obama said.

5. sorry to disagree with you ...
i like Mrs. Obama but i liked Mrs. Bush as FLOTUS. While her husband was a monster, the only saving grace of Bush's presidency was the dignity with which Laura Bush carried herself.

Let's not diss her just because she happens to be Bush's wife

8. Well then guess you won't like it when I say I didn't approve of her curtain use, nor her child
killing and getting away with it. :eyes:

19. Not the only two.
I actually feel slightly sorry for Laura and often wonder if she knew what she was getting into when she married the shrub. I never paid that much attention to her, but I don't recall her ever doing anything really offensive...she was just kind of "there".

20. For a reason I can't put my finger on, I believe that she IS completely Republican,
which naturally earns her demerits, but she seems less like a strident Ann Coulter or Peggy Noonan or Phyllis Schlafly (or even her mother-in-law) and more like a Betty Ford kind of Republican. Someone anyone can like, even if they disagree with the values she believes in.

13.  just because she happens to be Bush's wife
Edited on Wed May-06-09 10:27 AM by AlbertCat
She doesn't "happen" to be his wife! She said "I do"! It's her poor judgment. What kind of masochist would marry into the horror that is the Bush Family? (I went to prep school with Marvin Bush, 1970-1975...and they were dreadful then!)

She also ran over her old boyfriend.

I don't hate Laura, but what a doofus. She's gung ho on libraries but has a husband who can't speak or read. Doofus doofus doofus.
