France Urges Global Police Force for Haiti
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A6952-2004Feb25.html

The French government called for immediate creation of an international police force to stabilize Haiti yesterday as foreign leaders pressed Haiti's political opposition to reconsider a power-sharing proposal it has repeatedly rejected.

President Bush said the United States would "encourage" other nations "to provide a security presence" in the violence-torn Caribbean nation, but he did not say whether U.S. troops would be involved.

The Bush administration and the French, who have disagreed bitterly at the United Nations in recent times, both favor a political solution. The French have gone further in suggesting publicly that Aristide should resign, while U.S. officials have been working around the idea of him finishing his term.

2. of course the French want
Aristide gone...they are a former French colony. The French are no less imperialist than the US...they just don't have the big military.

3. Would
Recommend that Cuba provide the required security for the region.
The UN should back Cuba to provide the necessary support.
