U.S.: Iran Must Prove It Has Abandoned A-Bomb Efforts

VIENNA (Reuters) - The U.S. envoy to the United Nations (news - web sites) in Vienna said Wednesday the U.N. nuclear watchdog's latest report on Iran strengthens Washington's view that Tehran has a secret nuclear weapons program.

"Iran needs to demonstrate verifiably to the (IAEA) and the international community that it has abandoned its efforts to develop a nuclear weapons capability," ambassador Kenneth Brill told reporters.

Tuesday the U.N. International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) published an interim report on its inspections of Iran's nuclear program, which Tehran says is intended only for the peaceful generation of electricity.

9. I am not sure if the British bomb was 'given by U.S.'

My understanding is that Britain and U.S. both worked on aspects of the atomic bomb development in WWII, along with Canada. This knowledge was instrumental in development of their own bomb later.

The argument that only 'white' countries are allowed to have the bomb should be tempered with the knowledge that China, India, and Pakistan probably make up a good third of the world's population, even if they only represent 3 countries.

As for giving the British the bomb, we pretty much gave them our notes and said 'here you go'. Which I believe was part of the deal that gave us access to Canadian uranium in 1943.
