5. restraint
is advisable. its almost like they are intentionally baiting us to violence.

y'know what, fuck it. They fucked my city and my home, killed a couple thousand of my neighbors...they have picked this battlefield, fine.

I despair for diplomatic or political solutions to this.

fine...let's do it then. Bring 'em on. NYC will be waiting, cops, firemen, and all.

16. Wait and see
In all likelihood, the federal troops will be used to supplement the NYPD and will be placed at tunnels, bridges, airports etc., while the NYPD covers the convention.

I cannot yet slam this desicion, as the convention is a prime terrorist target (domestic and foreign terror).

If federal troops line the protest, then it guarantees violent conflict. Which might be the plan, I don't know.

19. I seriously doubt
that the visible presence of the military at a lawful, Constitutionally protected assembly of political dissent will create a more peaceful climte.

Those people are going to be seriously angry. Tough, that's protected too. I amainst any military presence there; it bodes ill for the future at best and, at worst, will enable at least local martial law then and there.

All to intimidate the protesters into not being there. I fervently hope no shots are fired.

21. backfire
I agree that all efforts are being made to scare moderate protestors away from NYC. But moves like this one by Hastert are pushing the political moderates into the realm of radical activists, who will be there to defend the nation, regardless of personal risk.

See you in the streets.

30. LOTS of suggestions.
First off, the toll free number enables you to be transfered, FREE, to ANYBODY'S office in the House and/or Senate.

You can start with Hastert. Then you can call back and ask for ANYBODY else.

I'd follow the "spaghetti theory" - as in - you throw a plate of spaghetti against the wall and see what sticks. Call WHOEVER. Call your rep. Call somebody else's rep, also. If it's a Dem, call them and urge them on, to fight this and to get to the bottom of it all. Tell them you're offering calcium supplements for their spines. If it's a republi-CON, tell them it's DOWNRIGHT UNPATRIOTIC to quash this investigation, and remind them that the widows are demanding answers! Do they dare to tell the 9/11 widows that there aren't any? Or that there's no time to get to the bottom of this? Do they dare fly in the face of their own John Ashcroft, who has advised all Americans that "if there's nothing to hide, then there's nothing to be afraid of, right??????" Let them know you smell a rat.

If you get the chance to do a letter to the editor, or an email to CNN or someplace, DO IT!!! Your words just MIGHT be used or heard on the air.

These people, even those not directly involved, NEED to know we are out there, we are watching, and we are taking names and notes, that we are vigilant, and that we are NOT fooled. If they hear this enough, they'll begin to take it seriously. Believe me: the Dark Siders are cheering them on, urging them to stonewall and cover up. THAT'S WHY WE NEED TO BE ON THE OFFENSE IN THIS. WE NEED TO FORCE THEM TO HEAR US. BY SHEER NUMBERS AND CALLS AND INVOLVEMENT, THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO HIDE FROM IT.

But it's something we all have to get off our duffs and do. NONE OF US CAN AFFORD TO BE COMPLACENT, OR TO GIVE UP. Leave that to the republi-CONS, leading up to Election Day, with consistently discouraging poll results that will motivate them to give up and not bother.

10. what the commission can do
is put its facts that they do have and push the 9-11 blame heavily on the bush camp..and you'll see the extension being brought up again.....
they should make a public statement that so far they have found the bush bunch was warned about 9-11 and helped get the Saudis out of the country.....this should be make publilc on all media outlets....

Hastert Tells W.House He Won't Extend 9/11 Panel
Wed February 25, 2004 02:45 PM ET
By Adam Entous

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - In a blow to the commission investigating the Sept. 11 attacks, the speaker of
the U.S. House of Representatives has told the White House and fellow Republicans that he will not bring up legislation to extend its May 27 deadline, officials said on Wednesday.

President Bush's chief of staff, Andrew Card, personally had appealed to Speaker Dennis Hastert to reconsider, and the Illinois Republican met on Wednesday with Bush at the White House.

But the speaker's spokesman, John Feehery, said Hastert told the White House and members of the House Republican conference that "it's a bad idea to extend the commission and ... that we're not going to bring any legislation up."

Am I the only one to smell a rat here? Is this effort designed to give the WH an excuse-- "Well, we wanted the investigation to go forward, but the House stopped it." I'm not buying this, not for a minute.

18. quotes from yesterday
"The speaker is not inclined to allow legislation to the floor that would extend the commission's deadline," said Hastert spokesman John Feehery. "The commission ought to get its work done."

"The speaker is not budging on extending the 9/11 commission," said Feehery. "He believes it would be a disservice to the American people to extend the commission's life."

Feehery said Hastert believes that moving the deadline closer to the November election will increase the chances the final report will be used for political purposes.

22. Astonishing.
"National security adviser Condoleezza Rice has also refused to testify publicly on the grounds she is a presidential adviser and not a Senate-confirmed Cabinet officer."

That's an excuse, not a reason. What she's really saying is that she actually doesn't have to say anything about anything. She's telling us, all of us, that she's simply unaccountable for her actions on the job.

Bitch. She needs to go. Now.

41. Sunday's NEWS = 9-11 public heat
Ellen Mariani and Phil Berg spoke with packed venues in Kansas City on Sunday Feb, 22. About 1500 residents heard them speak directly. They were also interviewed live on the three main TV stations, and two local radio stations.

It is a safe to assume that our 'representatives" are all feeling extra public pressure from the Midwest about now. Add your voice NOW while the iron is hot!

Here is a short article about their visit, with three photographs of Mariani/Berg:
