White House to show off green Detroit vehicles

The Chevrolet Volt, Ford Fusion hybrid and other environmentally-aimed models from Detroit automakers will be on display at the White House next Wednesday as part of the Obama administration's bid to boost Detroit through government fleet purchases.

The display is being organized by the General Services Adminstration, the federal agency that will oversee the purchase of 17,600 new vehicles from the Detroit automakers over the next few months. President Barack Obama is not expected to attend, as he's traveling to Iowa that day.

Vehicles from General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler LLC are all expected to be shown

Good cars like need more promotion in order to change perception of the Big Three.

5. So...we advertise for them, we fund them, we fire their executives, and we guarantee their autos...
But, yet, we cannot nationalize them and profit as a nation from it? WTF?
