Better treatment for older workers upheld
Court rules young cannot sue employers
By GINA HOLLAND
Associated Press
WASHINGTON -- Age has its benefits, the Supreme Court said Tuesday, ruling that younger workers can't sue their employers when older colleagues get preferential treatment.

In a 6-3 decision that affects tens of millions of workers, the justices said the law that protects older employees from age discrimination doesn't apply in reverse.

Groups such as the AARP, the largest advocacy group for people 50 and over, praised the decision as one that will protect the most vulnerable in the work force.

"If the court had decided the other way, it would have ignored that older workers face very significant problems in this country and always have," said Laurie McCann, a lawyer for the AARP.

2. It goes on anyway.
"Preferential Treatment"? Like what, getting the older employee a desk lamp or larger computer monitor? Changing their duties so they don't have to climb as many stairs?

What about passing the older employee over for merit raises because they "don't smile enough" or like bullshit, shuffling personnel around so the older employees in the unit wind up working for the department bully, changing the older worker's job description often enough to keep them guessing, hiring new hires (younger ones) in at a higher rate than the older worker makes after 25 years, and all manner of other devices designed to forced the older woker out of the work place.

Illegal? Probably.
Just try to PROVE it!

Sorry, kids, some of us just aren't ready to drop dead so you can have our jobs.
