Schwarzenegger: I'll get what I want in D.C. because I'm 'like a tick'

WASHINGTON – Saying he is "like a tick who hangs on," Gov. Schwarzenegger on Monday predicted that his persuasive nature would persuade Washington leaders to hand over much of the federal money he seeks to help California out of its financial predicament.

Despite his freshman status as a governor, Schwarzenegger continued to be the principal attraction at a conference here for the nation's 50 governors – though he spent perhaps as much time pressing key policy-makers for cash as he did attending conference activities.

Though leaders here gave him no assurances of getting more federal money – and though the realities of the federal budget make the prospect dim – the Republican governor said he was certain of success.

"How much money can I expect when I come here because so many other governors are asking for money?" Schwarzenegger said after meeting with Senate Appropriations Committee chairman Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, Republican. "I expect to get a lot of it, simply because I'm very persuasive. I am like a tick that hangs on itcq and will not let go until I get what I want."

There are different types of grease!

<snip>
"You can't get everything you want, but ... you know the old philosophy – squeaky wheels get the grease," said Schwarzenegger, here for the National Governors Association conference. "So I will ... be complaining and I will be asking for the money until we get as much as we can."
<snip>

You do not want to piss off Mr. Bush Jr. and Company, they may hit you with their monkey, grease monkey that is!

edit: fixed subject line.

2. A Tick? As in Bloodsucking?
But seriously, Arnold will get what he wants because CA has 55 electoral votes. And the Repugnantcans know that money will help turn CA around and allow Arnold to take credit for it.

So, come the GE, the message they can promote in the state is that a Democratic governor got them into a financial mess & a Republican governor got them out.

Wouldn't be surprised if states w/Repub govs (as well as swing states w/large #s of votes) get more money this election year to make things look better so people will be encouraged to vote Repub.

Or, am I just paranoid. Personally, I would not put ANYTHING past Rove.

The sole reason that Herr Gropenfuhrer was installed in the FIRST place was to deliver Collie-For-nya for Chimpy.

This is all just dumb show, AHH-Nuld goes to washington, meets and greets, begs for "help" and comes back home to Sacremento triumphant with huge sacks of RNC cash to "FEEX Theengs" with.

End of story.

9. Sunday on Meet the Press he was very logical.
After going on about having to live within your means and the poor taxpayers couldn't take much more etc, he comes right out and says in effect he is going to black mail Bush into giving many millions to California. Where does he think this money is coming from if not from taxpayers in other states ?

17. Ho Hum.....Yawn...stretch
Oh, I guess I'm supposed to be impressed...."I'm like a tick".

I'm assuming Good Ole Arnold is doing a commendable job; a really awesome guy.

So what? The state of California is still teetering on the edge of the abyss. Any bloodsucking this guy might do in Washington is not going to change anything. The state will still be close to bankruptcy.

You said it, Arnold.

19. If Schwarzenegger turns California into a red state he will get the cash..
Even though the chances of cali going to bush legitimacy are nill...( Cali turning red thru cheating and GOP dirty tricks? Chances are very good )Im sure Arnie will work over time trying to do his masters bidding and giving Cali to Bush..Thats why he was installed anyway.
Then Arnie will get his reward....
