Body of yachtsman killed by pirates found: Family speak of 'relief'

Mr Robertson's body was discovered by fishermen not far from where his boat was hijacked in Tarutao National Marine Park in the south of the country last Tuesday, the Foreign Office said.

His wife Linda Robertson, who was tied up during the ordeal, had been told by the Thai authorities that the attackers could not be tried for murder unless a body was found.

A fleet of naval and police boats, planes, and helicopters had been deployed to search for the remains, but hopes were fading of retrieving anything from waters that are notorious for their switching currents.

Last night relatives of the couple said they were "relieved" by the discovery of the body, which was formally identified on Monday afternoon. They had been forced to endure several false reports of remains being found.
