5 killed, 2 injured in Santa Clara shooting

(03-29) 22:51 PDT Santa Clara -- Santa Clara police were investigating a shooting Sunday night that left five people dead and two more, including an infant, fighting for their lives.

Santa Clara police Lt. Phil Cooke said police were summoned to a home on Headen Way in the upscale Rivermark community at about 8:30 p.m. by a report of an injured person. "When they got here, they found multiple gunshot victims inside the home," Cooke said. "There are five confirmed deceased inside the home. Two others were transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries."

The ages of the dead ranged from adult to a very young child, Cooke said. The infant and an adult were transported to the hospital with severe injuries, he said.

"We believe the suspect is among the deceased," he said.

People are bitching about guns but they are faster and more humane than the old fashioned methods such as gas, paris green (insecticide) and sulfur matchheads mixed with food.

Lack of guns won't stop this shit. An end to the stress and hopelessness will.

Nearly every damn call was for some type of 'domestic violence'.

15. This is just around the corner from my cousin's home here in Santa Clara

I'm staying with them at the moment. We were away when this happened, otherwise I'm sure we would have heard the sirens.

This kind of madness can occur anywhere in the US and seems to be getting worse with the weak economy. Just in the Bay Area alone, there have been several mass shootings in recent months. Another similar family-homocide suicide occurred in the San Fernando Valley in October. And so far, race seems to have little factor. Asians, Hispanics, Whites, Blacks - anyone can flip. Unfortunately I've read the stigma associated with mental health counseling in Asian culture can impact people not getting help. Of course, it's not specific just to Asians, but in this case I've heard they found an Indian passport. That's why I brought this up.

Either way, it's awful that disturbed people are killing innocent family members, rather than just themselves. Really selfish, cowardly, evil people...
