California is one of only five states that allows pharmacists to dispense the contraceptive pill, called Plan B, without a prescription. But only 9 percent of women ages 15 to 44 know that, according to the study sponsored by The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation.
What's more, 39 percent of the women surveyed don't know the pill is available in the United States and 49 percent of the adult women surveyed confused Plan B with RU-486, which induces abortions.
