France's Far-Right Leader Le Pen Eyeing Another Run for President
PARIS (AP) - Far-right leader Jean-Marie Le Pen, who stunned France by qualifying for a one-on-one runoff against Jacques Chirac in presidential elections in 2002, is considering another run in 2007, a spokesman said Monday.
Le Pen has decided to remain in politics though he was disqualified for France's regional elections on grounds he doesn't live in the southern area where he wanted to be a candidate.

"It is not at all his funeral," said Alain Vizier, referring to the court ruling Sunday that rendered Le Pen ineligible for the March regional elections.

Asked if Le Pen, now 75, will run for president in 2007, Vizier replied: "In theory, if everything goes well, yes."

1. Why not? Imperial Amerika has shown Totalitarianims on the rise
Fertile ground for Mr. Le Pen and his thugs.

My hope is that the remaining nations of the Free World can resist Totalitarianism in ways Imperial Amerika could not.

2. Think Franco-American relations are in bad shape NOW...
Just wait until M. Le Pen wins in 2007! :scared:

This guy ranks right down there with Mel Gibson's dad--he thinks the sight of the Germans marching under the Arc de Triomphe in Paris in 1940 was a good thing!

B-)

don't wanna burst your bubble but that will never happen.
It was a freak accident
Jospin didn't make it to the second round because there were 16 candidates, most of them left wing. Think Gore\Nader. Won't happen again.
Do u realize Le Pen was beaten 82-18 last time ?

The socialist candidate ,whoever he is, will be the favorite for the next election

4. Bush is horrible,
but he's not the American version of Le Pen. Don't exagerate.

One hopes, so long as the Left unites and votes PS, instead of going for jokes like Arlette Laguiller.

6. No, they're very different
Le Pen is a nationalist (you could even call him a fascist), a racist and a xenophobe. Bush really isn't - he's very much an internationalist, although that of course brings its own problems - like his small messianic complex. Either way, they're bad news for a country, but I don't see them as being all that similar.

7. Why do you consider Arlette a joke?
Her worker's party politics?
Her age?
Her sex?
Her humility?
Her honesty?
Her staying power?

Travailleurs! Travailleuses!!

8. Why?
Because people voted for her for the novelty value, not because they were Trotskyites or because they thought or expected that she'd do anything. And what was the result? Enough PS voters voted for her instead of Jospin that the second round was the unenviable choice of Chirac or Le Pen.

One would think they'd learn their lesson!

9. Or maybe they voted for dear old homely Arlette
To send a message to Jospin, who was swerving too far right into the territories of Messrs Chirac and Le Pen as it was. Maybe it was Jospin who needed to learn a lesson for taking for granted the voice of the 5% or so who would vote for Arlette regardless. Maybe it was he who needed to learn a lesson, and maybe he has.
