Iran and Nato end 30-year impasse

An Iranian diplomat has held informal talks with Nato officials for for the first time in 30 years.

Senior Nato negotiator Martin Erdmann said he had met Iran's ambassador to the European Union, Ali-Asghar Khaji, more than two weeks ago.

"This is another good step in engaging Iran in the international community," said Mr Erdmann.

A Nato spokesman, James Appathurai, said the talks with Mr Khaji had concentrated on Afghanistan.

Syria and Iran have been bitterly feuding with Saudi Arabia and Egypt over a string of political issues -- including their silence and lack of action against Israel's recent attack on the Gaza Strip.

Relations soured even more after Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Saud al-Faisal, urged fellow Arabs to forge "a unified and a joint vision" to face up to Iran and Syria on March 4.

5. Theirs is more about Sunni Shia relations. Our stand against
Cuba is our childish way of still being pissed about what happened in the 1960's.
Back to the ME reference. If I were Syria, I wouldn't trust SA or Egypt any further then I could throw them.
