Use WTO to Bolster Outsourcing--Pro-Bush Tech Guru
By Narayanan Madhavan and Anshuman Daga

BANGALORE (Reuters) - India must use World Trade Organization (news - web sites) (WTO) rules to protect the unfettered growth of U.S. technology outsourcing from protectionist attacks in an election year, a key Silicon Valley venture capitalist said.

If Lou Dobbs sees this, he's going to have a coronary. I'm almost crying.

1. "Aided the US recovery"
Edited on Mon Feb-23-04 11:25 AM by benfranklin1776
How by "assisting" 700,000 new people onto the unemployment rolls during this alleged "recovery"? Sounds like the type of assistance Dr. Jack Kevorkian might provide if he were in charge of economic policy. This gent sounds like a pathetic wannnabe comedian. His comments as an avowed Bush supporter and Manikow's should be showcased for those undecided voters who may have missed them.

2. And Nader supporters should be aware
that Nader doesn't have a clue about outsourcing. I saw Nader on TV this morning and when a reporter asked him about labor, he said that the U.S. shouldn't be encouraging a brain drain TO this country from other countries. Nader said that the we should be helping other countries with their economies. It was sad to see Nader so ill-informed about what is happening today.

4. Nader is irrelevant
Why are you wasting time talking about a guy who will be lucky to get .001% of the vote? But since you brought him up, he's consistantly been against this sort of race to the bottom corporate globalization.

6. I agree that Nader is not a threat to the Dems
It's just that since he was on TV and was being watched by millions of people, it would have been nice to hear another voice against outsourcing. As far as I could tell, Nader was totally unaware that outsourcing exists. It was as though he was in a time warp and didn't realize that the job situation has changed in the last 10 years.

7. Uh oh, my knee just jerked
Sorry about that. There's been so much energy wasted on Nader bashing around here lately. I find it odd that he wouldn't mention outsourcing on Meet the Press. I sure hope that Kerry and the rest of the dems start going on the offensive on this issue.

3. 90 day notice period?
"But he said India's outsourcers must help ease the pain of U.S. job losses.

"All I'm saying is we should minimize the negative impacts of outsourcing, and that'll help make it more acceptable."

"So, some of the (U.S.) laws that have been proposed like a 90-day notice period if jobs are being outsourced is a very good idea because it allows people who are affected in the United States to make alternative plans," Khosla said."

Wow, 90 days to make alternative plans in this economy! Quick, somebody nominate this guy for sainthood. It took me more thean 6 months to find a new job that barely makes ends meet. I'm so glad that our wonderful government and the forces of race to the bottom corporate globalization are making it easier for that job to be yanked right out from under me with a 90 day notice. The cavalier way this little maggot talks about how it's good for Americans to loose jobs makes me want to drive to Washington and strangle him with my bare hands.
