Arrest in Murder of Radio Reporter

The police have arrested a 16-year-old suspect in the fatal stabbing of a radio journalist, George Weber, who was found in his Brooklyn apartment last Sunday, law enforcement officials said.

The teenager, who lives in East Elmhurst, Queens, was arrested in Middletown, N.Y., on Tuesday night, the officials said. Charges were pending.

The officials said that Mr. Weber, 47, and the teenager apparently met through the Craigslist Web site. One of the officials, who declined to be identified because he was not authorized to speak about the case, said that Mr. Weber had posted advertisements on Craigslist and messages on his Facebook page saying that he was interested in meeting young Hispanic men.

Another official, the police department’s chief spokesman, Paul J. Browne, said, “We believe that he met Weber over the Internet through Craigslist and that they agreed to meet and that while he was inside Weber’s apartment he stabbed him approximately 50 times.”

Detectives arrested the teenager at 11 p.m. on the street in front of a bus depot in Middletown, Mr. Browne said. “He subsequently made statements implicating himself in the stabbing death.”

3. I think this is so sad.

It is just awful when a person dies so senselessly, but to also have such private issues plastered all over the news is such a humiliating way to leave this world.

And the fact that the alleged assailant is a minor is even more awful. This man of course did not deserve to die, but this kid is only 16. The law is the law.

The troubled teenager accused of stabbing WABC newsman George Weber during drug-fueled rough sex is a 16-year-old Satan-loving sadomasochist with a knife fetish.

John Katehis, who is just 16 and lives in East Elmhurst, Queens, posted pictures of himself on MySpace.com with various blades - including one he held against his neck. He also issued a chilling warning.

"If you disrespect me then I will f-----g break your neck," he wrote.

On his site, Katehis called himself "Extremist, an Anarchist, a Sadomasochist" and said he enjoys "long conversations, drinking, bike riding, hanging out."

The teen also listed more sinister hobbies like "roof hopping, hanging off trains" and claimed be into extremely violent video games.
