2. If that fool Bush picks a fight with those Koreans, he is out of his mind!
This can every bit be laid at loudmouth Bush's doorstep! North Koreans are some of the toughest people on this planet and Bush has no business picking a fight where we might lose hundreds of thousands of men. I think we should bring our army home from everywhere, disband most of it, keep the fleet, the airforce and some reasonable part of our nuclear deterrent and otherwise go to a Swiss-style defense. We would be a lot better defended and it would cost a whole lot less. Nobody would dream of physically attacking a country who could put so many trained militia in the field.

Like when Hitler asked the wehrmacht what would happen if they attacked Switzerland in WW2. The german army replied to the effect that they might win, but it would surely not be worth it. Hitler backed off. Feuheur not too big on "might" win.

Ask anyone who was in the Korean War if they think we should fight another one there! It might be worse than going back to Vietnam. Hey! I know...why don't we attack Korea and Vietnam both at the same time-for no reason! WHILE we are still bogged down in Iraq-for no discernable reason! Sheesh.

If the American people let that nut start a war with Korea, it will be one of the sorriest days this planet has ever seen. They've been getting ready for forty years for a rematch. And they ain't no joke.

4. I agree - carrot & stick approach worked...
...when we kept up our end of the deal. I'm afraid it's too late now - Kim's a loon & it's clear he now has the bomb (or is about to have one). The best we can hope for is a return a cold war stew of detente and mutually-assured destruction. Duck and cover!

5. The irony of this vs. the israeli nuke crisis
North korea has not started a war in 50 years.
Israel has been at war the whole time, maintaining a known nuclear arms stash. Why isn't the US working with egypt, lebannon, syria
and jordan to get israel to delcare, disclose, and stand down?

How would america feel if china, japan, russia, canada and mexico were to hold a conference asking it to declare and dismantle its nuclear WMD stockpile.

All the while, the US maintains an armed (nuclear) armed presence
within a kilometer of north korea prepared to invade at a moments notice....

Who is the hipocrate in all this.... it is the US. America should
get the hell out of korea and leave those people to their own. Koreans won't mass murder other koreans... all the mass deaths on
that peninsula are american/chinese/japanese or mongolian sponsored.

The north koreans feel they are defending all of korea from further
american expansionism, and it is in china's interest to let ameirica
extend its war of hipocrasy on another front... as it only weakens
the US to be so full of shit.
