3 arrested (so far) in Calgary as Bush event begins
Source: CBC

At least three people have been arrested in downtown Calgary where former U.S. president George W. Bush was set to speak at a private luncheon amid protests.

Calgary police told CBC News that one person was arrested for obstruction and assaulting a police officer, and confirmed they have arrested at least two more people.

As police handcuffed one man, protesters were chanting, "Let him go."

"What are you doing arresting that man? The criminal is inside,"
shouted a protester.

(snip)

The protesters included a person dressed as a Guantanamo Bay prisoner who tried to use a jury-rigged cannon device to try to fire shoes out onto Stephen Avenue Mall, but police stepped in.

6. Sadly...
With the minority conservative government still in power here, the only people banned are people like William Ayres, and anyone with a drug charge against them, and anyone fleeing the U.S military. War criminals are welcome.

4. As a Canadian...
I am profoundly embarrassed that this war criminal is allowed into our country.

I also think the Calgary neocon north oil crowd who invited him are a disgrace.

18. Alberta loves him!
Alberta is little Texas. Not representative of our country at all!

Also we wouldn't arrest him; we are too busy sucking up to Obama who doesn't want Bush to be even slightly embarrassed let alone made to answer for his war crimes.

12. Yes, but torture is okay...
You just have to tell the cop that when you were drinking your ass off before getting into the car, you were merely torturing yourself. Then, it's okay. :sarcasm:
