Hazmat crew checking powder sent to state office

Hazardous material crews are on scene at the central office of the Franchise Tax Board on Butterfield Way, according to authorities.

The office received an envelope today containing yellow powder that was burning through the envelope, said Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District Capt. Christian Pebbles.

The tax board office is located at 9646 Butterfield Way, near Folsom Boulevard.

There were no reports of injuries.
