Iran too slow in proving it has no nuclear bomb program: Powell
US Secretary of State Colin Powell on Friday criticized the Iranian government for moving too slowly in showing the world it is not trying to build an atomic bomb and urged Tehran to give up its suspected weapons of mass destruction program.

"After 18 years of trying to deceive the International Atomic Energy Agency and the world, Iran is slowly -- still too slowly -- coming forward with answers needed by the IAEA and by the rest of the international community to make sure that they are not violating their obligations," Powell said.

You allow the IAEA full access to the nuclear "power plant" that is being built and disclose all documents related to its construction.

8. Iran needs to convince the west...
That like North Korea it has a few bombs, to insure we won't invade. Maybe they can take advantage of the latest rumor that Israel sold nukes to India and Pakistan by claiming to have also bought a few, and produce some reciepts :silly:

That should heep us off their backs...

Accused Nuke Trader Also Helped India

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=513&ncid=703&e=9&u=/ap/20040219/ap_on_go_ot/nuclear_trader

WASHINGTON - An Israeli businessman accused of being a middleman in the nuclear black market worked to supply not only Pakistan but also its archrival India, court records indicate.

South Africa-based Asher Karni faces felony charges of exporting nuclear bomb triggers to Pakistan. But court files in the case also include e-mail exchanges between Karni and an Indian businessman who was trying secretly to buy material for two Indian rocket factories.

"Be careful to avoid any reference to the customer name," warned one message from Karni's Indian contact, Raghavendra "Ragu" Rao of Foretek Marketing (Pvt.) Ltd.

The messages offer a rare glimpse into such dealings. Federal prosecutors filed them in court as part of their attempts to persuade a judge to keep Karni behind bars before his trial.

worked for North Korea. What country that is otherwise small and vulnerable, but has some goods that the US covets, would not try to do everything it could to protect itself and it's citizens? No one can invade the US,especially not Iran, so what is the deal coming down here? Iran is no threat to the US and never can be, and further, countries such as Pakistan and India, Israel and others have nuclear weapons--they, should the winds change, are a threat to the US, although India is not of an imperialistic and aggressive mind set or does it have a religion that fosters aggression and conquoring. What country would want to remain so vulnerable without at least something to counteract the threats from these countries?

Just before the election, Bush will "capture" OBL, invade Iran and bomb Cuba.

That would make it rather difficult for Kerry/Edwards' message to be heard over the din of yet more warfare. War is the only food that sustains the Bushy shark.

22. Iran has 3X the population of Iraq
~75 million in Iran vs. 25 million in Iraq. So logically, you'd assume we'd need at least 3X the number of troops: 450,000-600,000. Iran has also not been under sanctions for the past decade, so it has a much more well-equipped and trained military. So we'd be looking at deploying 750,000+ soldiers to overtake and control Iran!!! NO F-ING WAY!!!

25. Nuclear Weapons in Iran
I hate to say this, but it would be darn right irresponsible of Iran not to be trying to produce nuclear weapons after watching what happened on both borders in Afghanistan and Iraq.
If I were an Iranian citizen who had any pride or dignity I would be out in the street demonstrating if I found out my government wasn't developing nukes. Sad, but true.

43. Okay, let's see if I have this right-
Mr. Powell thinks that we must be patient and let our inspectors take their time looking for weapons in Iraq. But Mr. Powell can't wait one more minute for Iran to prove whether or not they have WMD. Hurry up and wait, in regards to Iraq. Show us now, to Iran. When do we plan to start the bombing there? Why doesn't anyone try to inspect OUR weapons of mass destruction? Why are we "entitled" to have enough nukes to destroy the world about 50 times, and no one else is? We're the only ones that ever used nuclear weapons, for crissakes. I never have understood the double standard.

44. Colin Powell should be highlighred
on the cartoon network

Anything he says at this point is comical . I for one, imagine him as a cartoon character.

Here is a man who was once lauded as a sober thinking stable general who inserted common sense into military decisions.

He has squandered everything he once enjoyed by joining up with the Bush neo cons. He is now trash.

Never should anyone praise him again. There is nothing there that is honorable or redeemable at this point.

I watched him last week testifying before the budget committe and heard how he defended George Bush . His face and his words and his defensive arrogant demeanor disgusted me. He is another actor and another puppet. He has the facial expressions down pat as well as the v oice inflections, but his record belies him--he has no credibility.

He is only a "let's pretend" shell of a man who is dancing to the tune of an administration that has him in their grips because his son Michael, makes his very lucrative career off of it--He is bought and paid for and not to be trusted ever in view of his lies told before the UN in order to support the lies of his massa, George Bush.
